Around the Big East

Hurley likes and recruits talented depth in the middle;

2022-2023: Sanogo/Clingan
2023-2024: Clingan/Johnson
2024-2025: Johnson/Reed
Seems like a downward trend to me. Sanogo/Clingan, great
Clingan/Johnson, big step down
Johnson/Reed, another step down.

To date Johnson has shown that he can do a total of one thing on offense (although he does that one thing wonderfully). I am skeptical that he will add any more tools to that limited toolkit but it's a guard/wing game now anyway.

Agree it's a good model for SJU to add another mobile, rim protecting big. But must also have a PG who can defend,. penetrate and dish and shooters.

We aren't that far away depending on development and freshman production but help is needed

Not much chatter going on about Marquette and Creighton . McDermott and Shaka always come up with new Ammunition every year and then , typically come up with teams that always wind up in the NCAA .

Cooley is reloading at G’Town , English at PC and Holttman has been a big time Coach at Butler and Ohio State . It will take him a while at DePaul but , good use of the Portal can get the Demons improvement . Miller has improved X and gets Fremantle back .
Butler, SH ? Don’t know much yet ..Nova seems out of kilter thus far .
Us? Too early to tell . UCONN , will still have the best talent in the League and they aren’t finished in the Portal yet either .

Pitino is a HOF Coach and we are lucky to have him for a few years . But , nearly all the other BE Coaches aren’t chopped liver either . It’s a tough League and while the League were screwed out of 3 Bids this year , 5 or 6 teams deserved bids .
We , SH and PC were all deserving .

Feels like Xavier is just racking up talent left and right. They are gonna be really good next season with Freemantle and Hunter back.
