Around the Big East

He’d probably want to go somewhere where he’ll be the clear starting 5. Can’t see that happening with Zuby here. For as much talk as there’s been over the past couple years about Zuby playing the 4 it still has yet to materialize and I doubt it ever will
I think to get us to the next level, we will need more size in the front court. It’s a big disparity between us and the Auburn/Duke/Florida/Alabama/Tennessee/Houston tier. Thankfully we can compare our rosters to theirs with a straight face, but their size/defensive rebounding/shooting are the three big differences.

Think Zuby can defensively be a four now. Will need a unique guy who is big enough to be a five defensively and four offensively.

Remember next season we have Maker 😆he is certainly big enough.

Took a look at the conference standings and I think there is a lot still up in the air. Obviously nobody is catching us. But after that:

Marquette: 13-5, @Conn, SJU. Probably finish 14-6, but could finish 13-7 or 15-5.
Creighton: 13-5, @Hall, Butler. Probably finish 15-5.
UConn: 12-6, Marq, Hall, Probably finish 14-6
Xavier: 11-7, @Butler, Providence. Probably finish 13-7

I'm going to pencil in Creighton for 15-5, which means Marquette would have to beat both UConn and SJU to have a shot at the 2 seed. Don't think that will happen, so I'd bet Creighton winds up the 2 seed.

Where it gets interesting is Marquette and UConn. If UConn wins that game on Wednesday then Marquette would have to beat us to be the 3 and UConn would be the 4.

But if Marquette loses to UConn and then loses to us it's possible that X could be the 4 and Marquette could fall to the 5 depending on tiebreakers - and I don't know what those are.

Bottom line is Marquette may have potential to be anywhere from the 2-5, Creighton could be the 2 or the 3 depending on what what Marquette does plus tiebreakers, UConn could be anywhere from 3-5 depending on tiebreakers, and X could be the 4 or the 5.

I think. Lots up in the air.

Metta World Peace (Ron Artest) and Kathy Meehan will be honored.

Eric Dixon’s NIL $

According to College Sports Network, his NIL deal is estimated to be at $1.7 million as of February 2025, making him one of the highest earning college basketball players. A good chunk of the NIL endorsements come from the "Friends of Nova," a group that presents athletes with NIL opportunities.

"Friends of Nova" isn't the only entity that assists Dixon in gaining his riches.

In addition to his engagement with “Friends of Nova,” Dixon has negotiated many four-figure NIL deals with the aid of HYPE U. This Philadelphia-based firm connects sportsmen with promising possibilities.

While specifics are not publicly available, Dixon’s financial standing has improved substantially as a result of these deals and his on-court performance.

His strategic approach to capitalizing on NIL possibilities reflects the evolving context of collegiate athletics, where athletes can now leverage their brands.

I wonder if the “Friends of Nova” knew they were kicking in $1.7 million for a four wheel-drive pickup truck, that was going to be driven like a sedan instead.

Zuby’s switchability is what keys our defense, though. He gives up a little to big centers but absolutely nothing to 3’s and 4’s and challenges all guards on the perimeter. Reed would be a better Soriano.

We should also have a 6’10 230-240 soph
Prey next year and 7’1 [hopefully] 240+ Maker.

I think the move is to find another 6’9 240 Zuby clone as a freshman transfer to wait on the wings. How easy of a sell would that be after Zuby has developed here?!

Nova blows late lead losses at G’town. Nova took late contested 3s turned ball over and committed stupid fouls on defense. Just a horrible job.
