Tied for 4th, 4th seed in the BE Tourny lost in Semi’s to No. 1 seed Marquette. Ranked 10th (AP) and 12th (Coaches) poll going into the National tournament. Hard to be a miracle when ranked that high going into the tournament. 4th place finish in conference while ranked 10th and 12th just shows how tough and competitive overall the BE was that year.

Other teams who have finished fourth or worst in their Conference who have gone on to win the National Title include Nova (1984/85 4th and unranked) Arizona (1996/97, fifth and ranked 15th), UConn (2010/11, tied for 9th, yet ranked).
