Around the Big East

Creighton really looked vulnerable last night. Nebraska is kind of an interesting team, and it may just be a combination of the in-state rivalry and that they match up well with Kalkbrenner. But with Kalk neutralized Creighton had nothing else going on other than bombing long-range 3s.

I don't think SJU can erase Kalk in the same way but on the other hand I don't think Creighton matches up with us anywhere else on the floor. And I think they may have that problem with a lot of other teams also. May be a down year for them.

I don’t know what the deal is with their foreign freshmen Fedor Zugic, and if there is still a chance he gets eligible, but he would be a huge game changer for them in the wing.

They need something, anyway. Isaacs and Ashworth are a good backcourt and Kalk is great at what he does but someone else has to step up on the wing. There's some potential there but not enough production yet, I think

Have there been any updates on the Ashworth injury?

Maybe a bit of a stretch but wouldn't surprise to see Nova & Hall as 10 and 11th this year. Depaul just a lot better and Gtown young and should get better as the year goes on. Would be pretty amazing if it turns out that way.

So if Pitinos teams still looked like the mike anderson teams youd be saying its too early to judge pitino?

Cooley is a different coach than Pitino. Pitino is and has always been a fast turnaround artist. Cooley has been a program and culture builder. I had no expectation that Cooley would turn Georgetown around right away. With his approach it was always going to take a few years.

The real question is whether his approach is viable in the current college hoops environment. TBH I suspect it is not, but if you want the test to run its course you may not have an answer until Year 4 with Cooley.

I agree Lawman, I think we beat Creighton twice.
