It’s his dreamNot sure why you think that but that would shock the heck out of me.
If he even plays much?It should be Taylor
The nba is awful. Billy donovans been in the witness protection program since he left florida. I guess the money is nice though. It’s his dream
UConn coach Dan Hurley on his NBA aspirations: 'Down the road'
UConn men's basketball coach Dan Hurley went on the Pardon My Take podcast to speak about the National Championship and his NBA aspirations.www.ctinsider.com
no recruiting year round and no NIL BS to deal with. College football coaches are more opting for the NFL, to get away from this mess. The nba is awful. Billy donovans been in the witness protection program since he left florida. I guess the money is nice though.
It’s a dream I had but , Hurley left UCONN for ……,, DePaul! Not sure why you think that but that would shock the heck out of me.
The thing that many people forget about UConn is that when they were in the AAC they were garbage with Hurley. Thanks to Val Ackerman and greed, she gave UConn a visable conference with (state school) unlimited NIL budget and (the only thing I’ll give Hurley credit for ) they jumped all over it. Then if you look at their last 3 or 4 recruited classes of all 4 and now 5 star players, the money was rolling out the door.
We can all thank Ackerman and the other Big East executives who could give two craps about parity and fairness as long as the TV money rolled in. Gives a whole new meaning to selling your soul to the devil.
The other reality is that UConned was throwing out NIL money before there was NIL only then it was called by another name.
Rick played head games with UConn and MSG nonsense. Playing them there makes financial sense, gets national attention and fills the place. I don’t care if it is a 50/50 crowd split until we are good enough to move that needle in our favor. It is an electrifying event period.UConn massively helped the Big East last year, we started BE play with just a couple ranked teams (one being UConn) and ended with around 5 because UConn dominated OOC but lost a lot during BE play. Would you rather we started BE play with 1 ranked team and ended with a couple? Yeah this year they have just dominated the entire year, but BE teams aren't being hurt by losing to them. Teams including St. John's had golden opportunities to beat them but didn't step up. Seton Hall did and is on the bubble because of it.
I'm sure the Big East, everyone involved and not just Val, would do the exact same thing all over again. Even more obvious the need for UConn after Nova's recent fall and the other biggest brands (St. John's and Georgetown) failing to be contenders year after year. Without Nova and then UConn, the BE would not have the respect of a Power conference.
Don't you want to play big games against the best teams at a sold out MSG? UConn is the one large venue game we sold out this year and MSG was electric. Over a million people saw it on Fox, the most of any Big East game this year. Both the Big East and UConn benefit here. Pitino has leaned into this rivalry because it benefits us, and will 10X more once we beat them. Hoping to face them again in the BET.
Agreed. I always think UConn joining coinciding with Wright leaving kinda sucked for the Big East cause it let UConn come in and take the top spot in the conference pretty easily.UConn massively helped the Big East last year, we started BE play with just a couple ranked teams (one being UConn) and ended with around 5 because UConn dominated OOC but lost a lot during BE play. That’s the way UCONN looks at the rest of the conference. And not just this year after last years success. They will be gone soon no matter, as they desperately want to be in a football conference and eventually will get something done somehow. If we didn't have UCONN, the country would look at us the way college football looks at the ACC.
would've been awesome to have wright, hurley, and Pitino battling it out for at least a few years.Agreed. I always think UConn joining coinciding with Wright leaving kinda sucked for the Big East cause it let UConn come in and take the top spot in the conference pretty easily.
Its frustrating but also good for the conference in a lot of ways
They won a national championship as a member of the AAC. The narrative of their basketball program being nothing at the AAC by this board is honestly laughable. It was more about the NCAA screwing them over + the administration shooting themselves in the foot. Hiring Hurley would've made them a national power regardless. That’s the way UCONN looks at the rest of the conference. And not just this year after last years success. And make no mistake they were no power when the Big East threw them a lifeline. With a crazy low buyout. If you want to marry someone who you know is flirting with anything with a pulse behind your back - ok - but you have to get a big prenup.
And that doesn't even take into account what the women's team adds. They won a national championship as a member of the AAC. Our prenup with them is 30 million dollars, and including them in the negotiations for a future TV deal. Without them, we'd be doomed to either ESPN+ offerings with an occasional ESPN2 game and/or CBS Sports Network games.
Sorry but after watching and listening to the Danny Hurley clown show and putting up with their scumbag (on a good day) fans, I don’t believe the good outweighs the bad. The conference was good prior to Yukons return and will be good after they leave as another team will carry the torch (hopefully St. John’s) and I maintain will be far better without them,UConn massively helped the Big East last year, we started BE play with just a couple ranked teams (one being UConn) and ended with around 5 because UConn dominated OOC but lost a lot during BE play.
