Around the Big East

From what I have seen so far, SJU @ 6 is very wishful thinking.

I would agree to but at this point Georgetown, Providence, DePaul, Butler and Seton Hall have no reason to be ahead of us right now, Xavier is 6-0 but they beat Bradley by 1, Toledo by 3, and Eastern Kentucky by 3, can't see any reason their close wins were any other reason than our close wins.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years it's that for the majority of Big East teams, non-con play is not a consistent indicator of how they will perform in-conference. It's clear if you have a couple of teams that are real national contenders or true dumpster fires but for most of the teams...who knows? This is for better and for worse. In recent seasons teams that had great non-cons have fallen on their face in the Big East standings while teams that were being mocked nationally at the start of the year for losing buy games surged.

I'm not saying that non-conference play isn't important. It's part of the resume the committee uses to evaluate if you get in the tournament. It hurts to drop the BYU game and to not get double digit wins against these MAAC schools. The issues you see with our players and team exist and need to be addressed but but we just don't know how serious they are or how they stack up against what other Big East teams are facing themselves.

I think Villanova and Creighton are at the top and Georgetown is at the bottom and I really don't think you can criticize anyone for whatever order they predict outside of that. The first 3 conference games will tell us more than anything we've seen so far. This is an odd year and I think we're anywhere from 4th-9th which is a pretty huge window.

Completely agree with your post QB except I see us finishing anywhere from 4th to 8th (just don't see Depaul finishing ahead of us assuming they ever play any games...).

PC playing TCU right now on ESPNU. PC up 21-16 early. Xavier vs. Oklahoma at 8 on FS1.

15 points, 6 assists for David Duke as PC leads TCU by 11 at half. Duke is so improved and one of top guards in BE

The Friars rode superb 28-point, 7-assist explosion by David Duke and beat TCU, 79-70.
PC 4-2 now

Xavier's grad transfer big, a D2 transfer from Mercy College is the big we needed over Toro.

BE looking like 2-0 in Big East - Big 12 challenge tonight. Rumors of down year for BE have been greatly exaggerated as usual.

Were you saying that after Bradley, Toledo and Eastern Kentucky?

It's going back a ways, but I can think of at least two other D-2 NYS big men over the years who could have helped. They are out there. Pilfering a D-2 school is kind of lame, so I guess you would have to wait for the kid to express interest, but they are out there.

Nothing going on today, but big day tomorrow for Big East with games on pretty much from 4:30 - midnight.
SJU vs. Hall 4:30
Nebraska vs. Creighton 7 pm
Nova vs Georgetown 7 pm
UCLA vs. Marquette at 9:30

Marquette seems like they will be adding another commit to their class of '21 today as four-star Jonas Aidoo will be announcing his college destination at 5 PM EST time.
@jakieberman2

Charlotte kid who was also being recruited by Kansas.

If we got him people would complain he is too skinny. Because we aren't they will complain another 4 star big going elsewhere.

But but how is this possible if Kansas is recruiting him?
