Around the Big East

The only 2 good teams we beat all year are playing on Fox right now. Our old friend Tim Brando on the call; he'll probably still wind a way to sing CMA's praises.

While not specific to CMA, Brando did screw up by saying they were on the Storrs campus of UCONN, only “a few miles away from Hartford.” I guess 25 miles to Brando is only “a few miles.” 😆

All kidding aside. I know Joe T has been around for awhile. He made 3 tournaments in his first 4 years. And hasn’t made the postseason since 2017-18. While we talk about stagnant programs. Great win last night and solid record this year but facts are facts
For the uninitiated they pull the old late season folderoo basically on a yearly basis.

Assuming Marquette wins out they will win the BE outright and Shaka Smart will rightly be BE COY. Marquette has earned it they have been the most consistent team all year.

But I still think UCONN has the most upside in terms of making a NCAA run.

I know nothing about Broadcasting but , I would think the Announcers are given a specific outline of Statistics to use during the Game . It’s apparent that CMA ‘s never had a losing season is always on their menu . Kind of like the talking heads on News Programs who all use the same words .

Yes, of course broadcasters meet with each team's media representative to get briefed on the upcoming game, as well as visit game day walkthroughs and shootaround to try and get some data. Those contacts push the narratives they want the audience to hear. There's no way for them to be fully versed in the dozens of teams they broadcast each night.

What happened?
Holloway had words for Miller on the sidelines near midcourt with about 6 seconds left in game ostensibly because Xavier was still shooting 3s up 20 late in game. Xavier player had ball a few feet from where the coaches were exchanging words. He had been dibbling to kill last few seconds and when he saw coaches arguing he picked up his dribble and man guarding him did nothing. All of a sudden J Sanders comes steaking across the court and tries to rip ball out of Xavier players hands with a few seconds to go and both players wind up pushing each other (Sanders was a push in the back). Benches empty and a bit of a melee ensues. Dopey Donnie Marshall says Sanders was just going for the ball and sums up by saying it was a nothing incident. IMO Sanders acted like a jerk (was hitting his shots though-4-6 from the field for 11 points off the bench).

How in the hell did SJU lose both times to SHU?

I know they played without Richmond tonight but they are so offensively challenged.
The SHU roster was left bare for Shaheen, he’s acquitted himself well i year one. Losing Richmond is extra tough on them because with out him they really don’t have a PG.

Wouldnt be surprised if they take down the NIT if he returns soon. Also, wouldn’t be surprised if they lose out if he doesn’t come back.
