Around the Big East

When I was on the train home from the providence game ironically I sat next to one of their board of trustees or head fundraiser or something like that and I thought he said they renamed the Dunk to something else that the Dunk money wasn't as much as what people thought. He had meetings the next day in Garden City with donors or big alums

Georgetown lost by 40 points to Creighton last night. And that was with McDermott taking his starters out 10 minutes into the second half. Brutal.

If SJU fans are despondent, Hoya fans are suicidal. Georgetown admin needs to take some dramatic action to salvage the program at this point.

In some ways I would rather we end the CMA era in a close loss to Butler then a blowout Thursday at noon to Marquette.

Losing Mathis was a loss of toughness this team has very little of.
For confirmation of how bad a 3 point shooting team St. John's is, the opposing coach in the all access game (Miller) said that the only 3 point shooter they had to worry about was Mathis. Speaks volumes about our team. While Mathis was having a good season, his presence would not likely have moved the needle.

Last two years Ewing is currently 13-49 with a league record of 2-37. Let's assume they lose to Villanova next Wednesday that means they will have lost 50 games the last two years. I mean that is incomprehensible for a program like Georgetown.

Just to put that into perspective over the last 8 seasons including this active one Bill Self has 51 losses.

If that report was given now it would be:

"The only 3 point shooter you have to worry about is Storr."

How much is Ewing owned on his contract?

If they want Pitino they have the $ and they probably have a much better N$L community.

G'Town grads get high high paying jobs....

This is one of those year where I'll be pleasantly surprised if any BE teams get past the sweet 16. I think Xavier is our best shot.

Seton hall crushes providence
Dawes has shot out of his mind since Richmond has gone down. I think Shaheen is going to exceed Willard's level of success with the Hall. The former Dunk doesn't seem so invincible anymore. But, I know the recent struggles won't keep an Ed Cooley team down. The BET is going to be a fun one.

Remember when UCONN was 5-6 and slumping. They are about to finish winning 8 out of 9 with the only loss being by 3 at Creighton.

I think if they win BET they can get a 3 seed. I think Marquette can get a 2 seed if they win it. Buy if they put UCONN in East as either a 4 or 3 with sub regional in Albany and Regional in MSG that becomes a huge advantage.

They have the most talent of any Big East team, IMO. Almost had too much in the beginning, since it looked like they were struggling to establish a go-to player, which led to some tight defeats. Once Hawkins took ownership of that role, they were off and running.
