Around the Big East

Looks like that tough out of conference schedule played by the Con men and Creighton really got them ready for conference play. ;)
Sure you wanna play a tougher schedule to challenge your team and succor your NCAA resumé. But it's overrated when it comes to how your team will fare throughout the season.

I've said before and will say it again.... If you have a solid, mediocre, or poor team; it'll all play out, regardless of your preseason schedule.

Didn't someone comment in here that they might go undefeated in conference and were national championship contenders?
That was me. Boy was I wrong and in a really big way! I am also shocked about how far they have fallen. This is not the team that was blowing out Alabama and Iowa State and looked so dominant early on.

It's all good man lol, this is why the Big East is so fun. Unpredictable!

Was just watching the end of SH V UCONN game and with 1.6 seconds left up by one point SH misses a foul shot and Ty Samuel easily could have been called for an over the back rebounding foul with Uconn in double bonus which could have cost SH the game. No offense to anyone but what a DOPE! Time score and situation young man! I’m not talking touch foul he’s all over tge Uconn players back for no reason at that point in the game other than putting the win in jeopardy. UNREAL

Did you see the Halls’ foul by Dawes with 1 min left when they just took a 1 point lead? Essentially an intentional foul in the backcourt. At this point I am never surprised.

Yeah Cooley and staff play transfer game very well, but he also integrates them adeptly into his system. Of course it pays to be flexible, but you would never see Ed C be held captive to the show time nonsense of Curbelo or allowing a historically successful baseline guy in Jones seek stats hanging out deep and firing away.

If I had my pick of Big East coaches for us, it would be Cooley. Not necessarily because I think he's a better coach than McDermott or Smart, just think he'd be a perfect fit for us.

Shaka Smart, Up

It’s time to include Smart in National Coach of the Year conversations. In his second season, he has Marquette just a half-game behind Xavier in the race for the Big East conference lead and looking like a dangerous March threat. Remember, the Golden Eagles lost three of their top four scorers — Justin Lewis, Darryl Morsell and Greg Elliot — from last season’s tournament team and were picked to finish ninth in the league. They look even better this season, deeper offensively (five players average in double figures) and more potent, possessing the No. 1 offense in the country in terms of efficiency.“

“At Georgetown, the bar is incredibly low. Ewing has either been unable to keep his best players or win with them. It is located in the middle of a fertile recruiting ground loaded with rich boosters who are tired of this once-proud program being a laughingstock. The next coach will have tons of resources and even meager accomplishments will be praised because of the preceding mess.”
