Around the Big East

Miss…gotta hope hall wins this.  Elevates our league come tourney time.  We need to do our part tomorrow.     Time to bring it on our own…

That was 30 years in the making.  Good for Seton Hall.  Great win.  The country is being put on notice that the big east is for real.

Well our colleagues did their thing.  Still our record is all our own. Gotta step it up and bring the energy.  We gotta play our way into that tourney.  It isn’t gonna happen on its own.

Seton hall's schedule is ridiculous.  They just beat Michigan and they still play Ohio State, Rutgers, Iona and texas.
Man our schedule is a joke.  HAHAHAHAHA

I agree.  We lose and we are a step behind all of these teams already.
No excuses.  We will get it done tomorrow.

Let’s Go Redmen!

Iona doesn’t belong in that ridiculous schedule comment…

I think Marquette, Providence, and Seton Hall all did a great job of making their games ugly, to their benefit.  All those teams knew that they couldn't rise to the level of their opponents', so they decided to bring their opponents' down to their level.  I'm not sure we can do that.

I understand why a lot of our fans are excited, but i watch these games this week wondering where the wins are going to come from, for us.  I know you can't take these games as a barometer for the season, but I've always said, even if Anderson could do everything possible to turn us around (and so far, so good, in that department), the league had to come down to us just a bit, for the resurgence to be complete.  That does not appear to be happening, and my patience for a winner ran out a long time ago.

I do think we're better then last year, but these two days have me wondering if that will show in the record, specifically in the conference record.

It's not even the fault of anybody currently connected to SJU. It just seems that schools like Providence and Seton Hall found their "perfect fits" sooner then we did (I never thought Willard would have this much success at the Hall).

I'll say it again.  You can hate Willard all you want.  But with each passing year, it is getting harder and harder to claim he's not a good coach.

way too early to say that. we have 2 of the top 7 or 8 players in the big east. who knows what can happen

And, he's only 46 years old, and has already turned down major coaching jobs in the past.  He's going to be a thorn in our side for a long, long time, especially if he keeps taking recruits away from us.

I hate him so much, that I wish we had a coach just like him (although Anderson has obviously done a great job, to this point).

I'd just like to point out, in the 10 years he's been at the Hall, he has one NCAA win, and it was an opening round win. Literally nobody on this board would be happy with that type of track record if he was our coach.

Would be fair to point out they lost Powell’s senior year tournament to COVID. Plus he has a BET championship. Our fans are unruly sure, but I’m sure all of them wild trade our last ten years with theirs.

Of course they'd trade our last 10 years for theirs, but who would want our last 10 years? I'm just pointing out the expectations placed on our program by our fans while praising other Big East programs who haven't achieved much more. My point stands, our fans would not be satisfied with that track record that Williard has put up.

There is plenty of room for Seton Hall and St. John’s to successfully coexist. In fact, having a heated rival is not the worst thing as those games will bring attention. As for those saying Seton Hall will keep taking players from us, I submit one Julian C and Posh. I was talking to a Seton Hall fan friend who is pissed that Posh will hurt them and couldn’t figure out why they lost him to us. So it goes both ways.

We should all be celebrating the Big East 4-0 record vs Big Ten so far in the Gavitt games. The strength of Conference doesn’t go unnoticed when Selection Sunday comes. Now St. John’s needs to do their part and win tonight in Indiana.

Don’t doubt your point and nothing about college bball fans would surprise me. Just think saying he only has 1 tourney win in ten years is downplaying his Hall tenure.

Awesome to see the Big East go 4-0 so far.... with wins over Illinios / Mich / Wisconsin.... impressive. But for those that watched the games, were you guys very impressed with the play? Only thing that truly resonated in those 3 games was Watson's outstanding play the first 25 mins for Providence- hes a beast.

Watched the Marquette game, thought it was more an indictment that Illinois isnt that great without Kofi (saw Marquettes other games, they were smart- made it ugly- gritted out the W- but they dont look too skilled)

The Hall game last night- if we take away the number 4 and the name Michigan.... I wasn't wowed.... can't take these early season rankings too seriously. Not saying Michigan isn't good.... just not what i was expecting of a #4....

Good to see the Big East grit out these wins against a conf that has so much respect of the powers that be.

Willard has a good eye for talent, recruits well, develops players, and manages to do what is nearly impossible to do-keep his players.  Most of the minutes go to 5 grad students and a senior.  That is just crazy experience.   His teams fight for it. year in and year out.

Watched Creighton and Nebraska, Creighton with five new starters looked good. Again, good outside shooting, and a few good transfers and some height. McDemott can coach too.

Lavin, FWIW, says no way should they be 8th in BE as predicted, he has them definitely in the top 5. Good enough, as long as they don't displace us.
