Around the Big East 19/20

He wasn't a good enough shooter for someone who was basically a "catch-and-shoot" player. He probably dribbled the ball about 10 times and made one or two moves to the basket in two years. If he shot the ball at a 40% clip or higher as a standstill shooter, then he would've been valuable for this team.

I'll give him more props on the defensive end as he battled and banged, and at times, held his own, with bigger foes last season.
.

True , to an extent but , Trimble was a off the Bench player in his time here , not a Starter . As NC Johnnie said , he shot about 32 percent over 2 years taking around 150 shots . Currently , only the top 50 3 point shooters in all of Div 1 basketball shoot 40 percent on 3 ‘s . On our current team Figgy shoots 36 percent and Heron 35 percent on 3’s . No one else breaks 30 percent . Dunn shoots 21 percent but , we know he’s in there for other things , not his shooting ! The point was Trimble as a sub , a role he played for us and would continue to play , would have made some contribution shooting , even at 32 percent . It’s a what if comment , nothing more . BTW, only Howard on Marquette and Ballock on Creighton crack the top 50 among BE players . Syracuse has 2 Players , Buddy Boeheim and Elkins , I think his name is , in the top 50 of 3 point shooters . A more compelling point is that Recruiting 3 point shooters has to be a major target for Anderson moving forward and not just 1 player but, as many as you can get . Kids who have shooting touch , in addition to the other skills , are a premium .
Figueroa, Heron and Dunn (as you noted with Dunn) all bring far more to the table than Trimble. A standstill, designated, or "catch-and-shoot" shooters has to be able shot better than 32% from deep. If strictly shooting the ball is your specified role in an offense, then those numbers needed to be raised. Maybe those numbers would've been higher had he returned. I don't know. None of have an idea.

I liked what Trimble gave us when he was throwing his body around and fighting low post players a season ago. I also would like to wish him the best at Akron. But I had no problem with him moving on, as I feel many on our current team brings more to the table and/or have a better upside than him.

Lunardi has georgetown in the field of 64. If we would have beaten them, we would have been in.

Win the next 2 and we are in the field of 68.
Seton Hall ranked #18 for out battle this weekend. If we can grab a road win at prov that sets up a huge game at MSG where we can get to 3-3 in conference and also take down another highly ranked opponent
Nice thought but they are much bigger, much better, and much deeper.. If we do beat them it would be a big upset

It’s nice to still have our destiny in our own hands after a solid OOC record and some quality wins. That said, we gotta grind and I’d consider the NIT a big victory this season. Ncaa? We can dream. Maybe we start shooting better and getting some offense going.

Tuesday, January 14th:

9:00 PM - DePaul at Villanova - FS1

Villanova is a 9.5-point favorite, and is given an 87.4% chance of victory, by BPI.

Too big, IMO. Butler doesn't blow many people out, so I would expect Seton Hall to at least keep it within this range.

BPI likes Butler, 75.4%, FWIW, but that's just for an outright victory.
Mike Harmon, the father of Class of 2021 point guard Zion Harmon, raved about the family’s recent official visit to Seton Hall and said a decision about potential reclassification to 2020 and a college destination are expected by March 12, Zion’s 18th birthday.

I hate them . . . but I want them to be good, so it was good to see the dad raving. Sounds like a guy who may not be hypnotized by Kansas just because of the name.

Call me crazy but Nova doesn’t impress me. They’re hot and cold. I’m watching them right now and it’s all perimeter jumpers. Not even good ones necessarily. They only take perimeter shots and when they’re on they can sink you. They really lack toughness overall and I just don’t see them hitting the glass or anything else. They’ll probably still smack us because they always have a good game against us and get 5x the foul calls but I don’t see this nova team being that great.

Villanova trying to blow an 11 point lead, that they had with 2 minutes left. Now a two point game with 27 seconds left, DePaul ball.

And, I think they got jobbed on the last basket. It looked like a clear 3 pointer to me, but DePaul didn't even ask to have it reviewed.

We are such a funny fan base. I love how we stand near the bottom of the BE and report to be unimpressed by the teams in the upper half.

"Nova's not that good, Butler's got nothing, Providence is dead......."

The Big East is solid. Everybody is good.

Watching SHU/Butler.
It feels like March.

Source: George Washington transfer DJ Williams has enrolled at DePaul. Williams is eligible to play immediately. Averaged 13.7 PPG & 4.7 RPG through 31 games last year.
