Around the Big East 18/19

Xavier looks really good. Wish we could’ve played them earlier in conference play when they were still figuring out their identity on offense. By the time we play them they will be looking good

Top to bottom every team is good. Easily the most competitive season which hurts every team's overall record. The lack of depth and front court talent may be the most important factor in our achieving our 22 win goal. This year the Big East tournament will be important for every team because literally every team can reach the final. Again, our lack of depth may be the Achilles heel for us to reach the final.

Was thinking same about Providence who will have Reeves back for our games.

The Big East officiating is horrible!! They call a Tech on Steele with 3:34 left for nothing and then after the foul shots they call an offensive foul on Hauser for just posting up as a make up call. Ridiculous

Agreed on those calls.

Becoming impressed with Marquette. Closed this game on a 40-24 run. Now 7-1. And two road wins this year, at Georgetown and at Xavier where they won getting nothing from key players. Howard didn't play against Georgetown and Theo John got into foul trouble all game and scored 0 today.

Howard right now is POY in the BE over Ponds. That is subject to change.

Agreed Fordham, Gottleib is right though, Howard is their only real ball handler. If you can pressure them and make Howard pass the ball their efficiency offensively goes down when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands.

We can always hope other players get injured and miss games against us. ;) :) JK (never root for a player to get hurt).

Two Big East games, along with ours, on Sunday.

12 noon - Depaul at Providence - FS1
2:30 PM - Seton Hall at Villanova - FOX

No games in the Big East on Monday or Tuesday.

Found this on providence site. For those that like to read other boards or might wanna start this could be helpful.

Villanova is the rare team that saw someone play more "selfish" ball (for lack of a better word), and have it work out.

Phil Booth spent the last three years mostly passing off to the Hart's and Divenchenzo's of the world. This year, for them to have success, he had to be "the man." It took him about two months to realize that, but once he did, Villanova has become as dangerous as ever.

Do not count him out in the BE Player of the Year race.

If Booth didn't realize this for 2 months you don't think Jay Wright was telling him? Booth and Paschall are both playing better ball as they settle in and have adjusted to being the man.

Cooley sneaking up there;

AJ Reeves came back today, and played well. They are one of the teams I expect to start moving up.

Agree, he is one of four frosh that Cooley plays. All 11 scholarship players see time at Providence. I think they will finish third.
