Around the Big East 18/19
I understand asking to be Nova is a lot, but it's not a lot to ask to be Marquette, Butler, Seton Hall, PC, Creighton, etc. Someone else pointed out the silliness of seeing a 10-8 record as the holy grail of sorts when that would be seen as a down year for several Big East teams. Would not be acceptable for Marquette or Nova at this juncture.
You do realize that since the New BE was formed only 2 teams not named Villanova have won more than 10 conference games more than once, Xavier in 16 and 18 and Butler in 15 and 17. Gtown, Hall, Prov and Creighton have done it once. Marquette has NEVER done it.
And just think... if Jarvis had gone to the Wizards after his second season at SJU (Jordan wanted to hire him but they couldn't agree on a contract), Jay Wright would be our coach right now.
Yeah, and if Fran wasn't such a nut, maybe he'd still be here, and have 2 NCs like Jay.
what if, what if, what if.
Wright also redshirts people who are very highly rated coming out of high school. Players like Mikal Bridges and DiVincenzo. He somehow gets them to buy into his vision. Most programs, you tell a top 100 recruit you are redshirting them, they’d bail out immediately. He gets players to stick around and it pays off
Di Vincenzo was redshirted because of injury.

Impossible! Thanks for posting facts.

Providence leads Xavier 33-26 at half in Cincinnati.

PC has struggled this season so far, but I think Cooley will get them turned around. Nate Watson is a load in the middle & of course Diallo is very good. If Reeves comes back in shape, PC will knock a lot of teams off.

Of course now PC will blow this lead, a problem for them too often this year. :)

Providence is in black, and Xavier is in dark grey. I can't tell which team is which, watching this game. All I know, is that Providence is on the verge, up by 10, with three and a half to go.

Watching on an old black and white TV? ;) :)

If Marquette beats Depaul tonight (and they are 8 and a half point favorites at home), then we go into a 5-way tie for third place at 3-4 (though we have no wins in the subsequent mini-league, so we'd be the 7th seed). After that, 3 teams are tied for 8th at 2-4.

3 through 10 in this league, is completely up in the air right now.

That is why I am ready to root for Nova and Marq to win all the rest of their games except against us so if we win some games we can finish third.

Obviously root for Marquette & Nova v anybody but Johnnies;

Again someone is going to break out of that 3-10 pack with 4 or 5 wins in a row. That is what SJU needs to do and they are capable, lot of mediocrity. Still time to finish top 3 in conference. That is what is driving me nuts over the people arguing, "Well 9-9 should be good enough to get in the NCAA's." Really, that is what we waited for 4 years for a .500 season and a split with DePaul? Really? That is why we crowed over a 12-0 pre-conference record, so they could go 9-9? Really? That is why we fired the previous coach so we can "hope" to go 9-9 and sneak into NCAA's not in year 2 or 3 but year 4? Really? I don't think that was anyone's expectation on 4/1/15.

We need to payback Nova at MSG. That would give us 2 top 15 ish wins and help to offset a bad OOC. I was so disappointed after the first game, because we had them dead to rights. They were on the ropes at home and they still didn't have great chemistry. Now I fear they have gotten enough experience and it will be way harder to beat them since they have gelled. I want to see us totally rejuvenated vs. G'Town at MSG with a healthy Ponds, Clark, and LJ running on all cylinders. I'm actually glad McLung will play us this time, because he should be easy to turnover. Can be erratic since he's still young and inexperienced. Talented kid especially driving to hoop, but think he will have his hands full with our big guards.

Butler is in last place & 1&5 on road btw.

Creighton outworked Butler in all the ways that count, including the scoreboard, and came away with a 75-61 victory Friday in the Big East before a sellout crowd of 18,089.

18,089 - as much any NBA team... that's amazing.

Yes, but it's Omaha. What else is a sports fan in Omaha going to do?

Good thing I didn't officially pull the trigger on my prediction that Butler - St. John's - Villanova would go 1-2-3 in conference.
