Around the Big East 18/19

It's unfortunate that we won't be playing our first game against Xavier until February 28th.

Georgetown is running them out of the Cintas Center right now. 39-22 late first half. Malinowski, who killed Butler but was quiet against us, is shooting really well, so far.

Some Big East teams that we're better then may be ahead of us in the standings in mid-February, because they would already have beaten up on Xavier twice, while we have not had that chance yet. The key is, to just stay close in the standings.

Xavier changed up their defense (from man to a 2-3 zone), and went on a 14-0 run to close out the first half. This is why I wish we would often change up our defense. It can potentially tymie the opposition, and you can then possibly create your own run.

Marquette is not a good road team to date and trail Creighton early in first half 24-13.

We are halfway through the season let’s hope the coaches pull a few defensive changes out of their bag of tricks in the second half. Would love to see us add a few defensive wrinkles.

Patrick will do a great job at Gtown, IMO, but he tends to get too cute sometimes.

If something works for 4 or 5 possessions, he'll go away from it just because he automatically assumes that the other team will adjust, or that his hot shooting player will get cold, etc.

Govan should have touched the ball ever possession on Saturday. He either made the shot, got fouled, or kicked out to the open man every time. Then, he stopped touching the ball. Same with Malinowski tonight. He was on fire early, and now it looks like they are not running any plays for him.

Xavier wins, to get to 2-2. Gtown falls to 1-2. Bad loss for them.

It wouldn't be good for us, because it means we won't have enough wins for the NCAA tournament, but a 10 way tie at 9-9 for all teams in the Big East would be the coolest thing ever, from a curiosity standpoint. How do you seed for the Big East Tournament?

I know it won't happen, but if there ever were a year, this is it.

And Wojo just got teed up!

My wife’s about to tee me up because of my reaction to the Jets hiring Adam Gase!

Marquette just hit a miracle 3 to tie, but they have to check it! Looks like it was late, to me, but very close.

Unbelievable finish in Omaha. After a savvy play by a Hauser to get Marquette the ball back with 0.8 seconds left, Marquette hit a three at the buzzer to tie things up at Creighton, but I’m not convinced Sam Hauser got it off in time

O.M.G.! Marquette just tied it up at the buzzer with a three! Refs ruled it was good. To OT we go.

I think it's going to count. It's just too close on the replay (though I thought it was late at full speed, so my initial call would have been different, but you had to keep it either way).

EDIT: It counts. Overtime on the way.

Huge Creighton error on long inbounds, letting giving Marquette ball under basket. Then a prayer three while guarded on catch-and-shoot in final
