Around the Big East 18/19

Understand that Shamorie was pre-season choice for BE player of the year and Howard will likely win the award but if you asked me who I wanted to have playing for me when the game is on the line, it would be Powell hands down.

No question NCJ.
Powell is a complete Warrior.
Leaves it out on the court.
Good for him and for his team.

Powell will probably come in second to Howard. Either Ponds or Booth third.

DePaul has battled back a bit, down 7 at the Half, 41-34, after a woeful 2-12 start to the game.

All-Big East first team, as voted by the coaches: Powell, Howard, Ponds, Paschall, Booth and Govan.

Ponds was not unanimous honoree apparently.

No LJ Figueroa or Mustapha Heron on Big East second team/honorable mention. Shows you what coaches think of St. John's after Ponds. #sjubb

Regardless of coaches vote, I am glad we have LJ on this team for two more years. He's the type of player that winning programs get in abundance. Unfortunately, those programs usually have better players around them, then LJ is likely to have next year.

Better hope so

LJ omission is surprising as honorable mention with 2 Creighton guys getting picked (Alexander & Krampelj)

LJ does a lot not in stat line...

He's a transfer candidate? I can't see him going pro, because he has stuff he can work on to improve his stock, IMO.

Unless, he goes if Mullin walks/gets fired. I would have to be understanding of that.

Never said that, just would not assume him staying for two years as you referenced. Many kids need to help families out by earning $$ sooner than later.

Powell is great and leading that team on a great run to end. Two weeks ago the roles were flipped. Let’s just remember in their games yesterday Powell had 20 points and 5 assists on 5-14 shooting. Ponds had 19 points and 10 assists on 6-15 shooting. It was Powell’s and the Hall’s ancillary pieces that stepped up huge.

I guess you can't assume anything these days. It's just very hard to imagine him not being here next. He could be the guy the whole team revolves around.
Inconstant team season is why LJ and MH were excluded, i totally get it.
Also forgot to mention we were a 7th place so really not deserved to be awarded 2 of 10 spots!
