Around the Big East 18/19

Say what you want about the Hall. I’m definitely not a fan, but I must give them credit. They bring it every game, both offense and defense. If we played with half of the passion that they play with, we would be in great shape. 18-0 run by SH. 73-64 Final.
You’ve caught them on their good days then. They’ve had plenty of duds this year which is why their are in the precarious position they are in
The Hall may be a flawed team and so produce clunkers regularly, but they’re very well-coached, have out-performed pre-season expectations as I recall, and do not quit—particularly Powell.
I was incredibly impressed with Myles in the loss against us.
The kid’s a warrior.

I don't think they were well coached at all. They've had promising guys regress or not play well at all the last half of the season. What they've been saved by lately is Powell being absolutely incredible. He scored like half their points tonight.

Their roster is close to worst in the BE. Kudos to them.

“Cannibalization”

With DePaul’s win last night, every team in @BIGEASTMBB will finish the regular season at or above .500

Pretty sure that’s never been done in a major conference.

You guys may think I'm crazy but I'm more excited about the Big East Tourney than the NCAA tourney. Should be an exciting 4 days next week.

Frankly I get that

Not crazy at all. Normally, I will bet a few bucks on BET games. This year? I’m not touching them. It’s impossible to handicap this tourney.

It's amazing how our board loves to bash our own coach (many times with good cause), and overrate other teams coaches when they have a big win, and don't say anything when they have a big loss.

Ewing was universally praised on here all season. They're battling for a NCAA tourney spot and just lost to DePaul by 32. Where is the praise now?

I don't think Willard is a bad coach. But for anyone who watched the game, let's not act like they won for any other reason than Powell hitting tough shot after tough shot and Howard looking like he didn't show up to play.

So true. There’s a losing coach/team every game. Was initially worried about this week off and getting passed by. Turns out not playing might work to our advantage this week.

Yea they have no one who can make shots outside of MP. Them being on the bubble has made me not give up hope on next years team, but I doubt our staff does more with less when they are doing less with more now

Creighton allegations

Per Dan Wetzel
In a superseding indictment filed this afternoon, federal prosecutors allege Christian Dawkins paid bribes to unnamed assistant coaches at schools located in Nebraska and Texas. Sources say the two schools are Creighton and TCU

I don't love the Hall roster, either, but they have a number of top 100 kids, and if the roster is a problem, who gets fault for recruiting them? I get there are only so many assistant coaching positions to offer up, but I think the only reason they have had any semblance of a season is because Powell has went bonkers a few games. Beyond him, their offense is literally unwatchable. And we had what some of you view as a bottom-tier roster in year 9 of Mullin's tenure people would be going ballistic.

Truly dislike putting it this way, but the Hall imo has gotten 'more' out of their 'roster' than we have ours, considering the big-time pre-season hype of our team and the Hall being relegated to 8 - 10th place in pre-season rankings.
Plus, I've seen Willard make in-game adjustments I wish we did as often.
'All that' tells me they've well-coached AND that Powell is a warrior.
Luv the kid's grit!

I don't think anyone would deny we have the most individual talent in the league. Unfortunately when put together as a team it's very incomplete

Someone I spoke to two days ago said the same thing, Room 112. Practically verbatim.

He certainly finishes better. Ponds fades away on his drives while Powell takes the easy route with layups.
