Around the Big East 18/19
If DePaul wins this game how does it help us or it really doesn’t matter who wins?
Helps if we still have hopes for #3 seed. However doesn't help us avoid potentially playing first night of Big East tourney.

Parity or Mediocrity?
1 and 1a

Marquette has lost 3 in a row. But look at how they have lost them. They led all 3 at the under 5 minute mark including tonight by 9. They have been outscored 46-9 combined in the last 5 minutes of each of these 3 losses. They got outscored 18-0 to end tonight, from up 9 to down 9.
That's crazy. Fatigue? Poor coaching down the stretch?
Wojo has to take a bit of a hit here. Need to close out these games. That is on him and his staff Up 12 and 13 in the 2nd half tonight and up 9 with less than 5 and you don't close it out. Not just that but it is one thing to blow a 9 point lead and say lose on a late 3 pointer or something. But to be up 9 64-55 with under 5 and DON'T SCORE THE REST OF THE GAME is just baffling...

Haha! That was gonna be my answer, too.

If the Depaul and Creighton scores hold, then we have a 5-way tie for third in the Big East at 8-9 (the Big East website has Seton Hall listed at 9-9, but that is a misprint). Only two of those five teams (St. John's and Xavier) will be playing each other this weekend, so it can absolutely end in a crazy finish.

In normal times BE would be a 2 bid league imo. So many bad teams and mediocre leagues like Pac 12 for example.

Not to mention Fordham playing a Seton Hall squad that literally has one player who seemingly can get a bucket when needed. Powell is the only one that scares you right now. He's playing great, but that supporting cast has been far worse than they were earlier in the year which is why the Hall has looked bad recently.

What could help us is we hold tie-breaker for BET seeding purposes over Creighton, Hall & Georgetown in that we beat Creighton twice and have better record than the other two against Marquette & Nova.

Actually, in a 3-team (or more) tie, the teams are considered a "mini-conference", and cumulative record against the other teams in the tiebreaker is first step towards breaking the tie (we'd be 4-2 against the teams you mentioned, as an example, so that would probably put us in a good spot).

If teams still have the same record after breaking that tie, then it goes head-to-head, followed by strength of victory.

Wonder if there were a few posts deleted over on the seton hall board tonight? Good for them and perhaps bad for us. Just win.

Thanks for that info. I didn't realize a multi-team tiebreaker worked differently than if we were tied with just one of them. Now Creighton looks like they may blow the game to Providence which is not good for us.

I can't believe this I turned this off totally thinking that game was over...

It’s unreal how everything we needed to happen tonight isn’t happening. we are about to go 0/3 in results that would’ve helped us stay out of Wednesday night.

Now Wednesday is a huge possibility. The one remedy for the johnnies now, is to win

Tyshon Alexander doesn’t know it but he might’ve just saved St. John’s from being in the embarrassing Wednesday games

FWIW, winning has always been the remedy we needed...

We have a lot to thank Creighton for this year, if they hang on! Beating them twice (especially on the road) has kept us on the right side of the bubble, to this point.
