Around the Big East 18/19

Providence up 7 with 1:49 left. The Big East is befuddling this year. And probably sending a lot of action guys to the poorhouse.

Providence up 7 at Butler with 1:30 to go.

Barring a big comeback, this pretty much puts an end to Butler's at-large chances, IMO.

You and I spoke too soon, Spocky.

Butler has it down to 2, still 56 seconds left.

I ask myself that everytime I watch them play. They are painfully unskilled on offense. No one can make shots.

Par for the course for me. When I eat my words, they’re always warm because they just left my mouth. To be fair, as we were typing, Butler couldn’t throw the ball into the ocean.

Not just lose to them both times but quite frankly really not competitive in either game. That is the biggest head scratcher.

PC going to win which is a big loss for Butler's NCAA hopes. Probably knocks them off the last 4 out at this point.

I think I figured it out. Providence realizes it cannot play better than anybody, but they have figured out how to make their opponents play so incredibly atrocious that they lose the game. The Friars must lead the world in number of times the ball gets knocked around wildly on the court by both teams.

Agree, unless they win the BET.
Unlikely, but it’s been a wacky year in the conference...
Meanwhile, I hope we win that trophy.

Glad it went to OT. Run them into the ground on Thursday.
Assuming we are the 3rd seed in the BET, Providence getting out of the cellar is good news for us, right?
No. We need them to play Wednesday night and as far away from us as possible. If they creep up to the 6th seed and we stay the 3rd, we will play them in the quarterfinals

We're playing Xavier, not Butler.

But we're still glad it went to over-time. Kids are so sedentary these days. They need exercise. It's good for them.

Man, what a bad year for the conference in terms of bids. We have 3 near locks including us and then every time someone has a chance to claim the 4th they lose to some lower level conference team that isn't going dancing. At the end of the day, I really only care that we make it but it doesn't look good for the conference at all this year in terms of national respect. Yes many programs are rebuilding this season, but we will likely finish the year with 1 ranked team and quite possibly 3 bids unless Seton Hall steps up. Just seems every big game for our bubble teams are lost.

Yup, the American Athletic Conference could possibly wind up with as many teams in as BE. Houston & Cincy are locks and Temple & UCF could have cases to be made, depending how they finish up. However UCF has three tough ones left against Temple, Houston & Cincy (two of those on the road) and could easily lose all three. Actually very unlikely that AA gets more than 2 or at most 3 bids looking at remaining schedules of Temple & UCF.
