Around the Big East 18/19
Wow. Talk about peaking at the right time, i could totally see this Xavier team running through the whole BET and make it to the big dance
I know they've been playing better, but I think you are giving them too much credit here, Jack.

Villanova got by on their reptutation and winning culture for a long time this season, but they are not that good. I know it's been Nova and Marquette, followed by everyone else this year, but as far as a deep NCAA tournament run, it's looking like Marquette, followed by everyone else.

We are the one thing standing in the way of Xavier finishing 3rd. Better win Thursday.

A few nights ago, I told some of our fellow fans that Villanova is trending south. Personally, I don't think they rectify things. I see 'em possibly winning a game in the Big East Tournament, but I don't see 'Nova winning the tournament title this season.

I also see 'em bowing out in the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

I did not say anything about a deep NCAA tournament run. I said they could run through the BET. This is the most wide open the conference has ever been entering March. There's only 10 teams. Assuming they finish off this one against nova they are putting themselves in great shape to get a top 6 finish, meaning they get a bye. Which means by the time they enter MSG in March there will only be 8 teams left in the conference still playing.

Whoever wins the BET has to win 3 games in 3 days. You noted Nova is not that good, SJU/SHU/GTOWN have been up and down all year as you know. Marquette will be the favorite obviously, but since realignment, the #1 seed has won twice and the field has won 3 times. It is a toss up.

Also I did not pick X to win it I just said I could totally see it, when they are peaking and playing their best basketball right as postseason approaches

What I'm really getting at though, is that if we weren't playing them two out of the next three, you and some of the others on here would not be as much in awe of what's going on today, as you normally would be. They're right about where most of us thought they would be at the start of the year, they just took the long route to get there (ditto Nova, who most of us pegged as a 12 or 13 win team in the league this year).

Xavier is playing better, but they're due for a loss, IMO. Hopefully, that comes Thursday.

I think we are seeing the vulnerability that we thought Nova had all season starting to manifest itself.

And suddenly X is about to be 7-8 in conference.

Marquette is going to win the conference it appears.

You always hate to put this label on a freshman, but I don't think there has been a more disappointing player in the league then Quinerly this year.

At this point, it is hard to predict who will finish in what position, but I'd prefer not to play Xavier or Providence on Thurs.
Wojo will probably be coach of year, but Travis Steele should be runner-up. He lost half his recruiting class when Mack left and had only five returning players. He quickly hired a staff and got three graduate transfers to increase roster to ten players.
They looked like the worst team in conference for most of year, but have won four straight and are trending upward. I wish we had played them earlier. Wonder what the line will be against them.

He's done a good job turning it around, but let's remember the cupboard wasn't that bare. Marshall and Scruggs are talented kids who were sought after recruits with some PT under their belt. Jones was a solid BE big before this season. A load down low. Goodin was the PG on successful teams. I would have loved to have all 4 of those guys in March 2015 when Mullin took over.

After what they did to us at the end of last year’s BE tourney game, I hope we beat them down.

Funny, Section3, I had same thought earlier today.
Xavier seems to be peaking at the right time.
Let’s hope we keep the ‘edge’ we had y’day and beat them on our home court.

My memory is terrible for these things. What did they do?

ran it up and dunked when clock running out.

Amazing how the first Seton hall game debacle is impacting the conference and us. I know it is water under the bridge, but it is vexing that if that game had been correctly decided and not botched by the officials, there'd be much better separation between us and SH and X. Now, if we lose to X, we would be mired once again in a tie situation for third. We should have a cushion that now does not exist. Of course, that is all irrelevant if we take care of business, so hopefully we do.

Smsh.
