Around the Big East 18/19

Many Coaches face the hot seat . Huggy is having a awful year at WVA , had to dismiss 2 kids . He’s a HOF Coach and always a Winner . Doubt he’s in trouble . McDermott is a good Coach competing in a tough league. Crean had great years at Marquette , went to Indiana and he won but, No Final 4’s and he gets canned . Which by the way , in his 2 years there, Archie Miller isn’t exactly lighting it up in Bloomington either . Ditto Chris Holtmann going from Butler to Ohio State . It’s takes a lot to be good every year . And , some fans just can’t be satisfied . Until this Year , Steve Alford Won UCLA but, still gets fired ? It’s a tough racket being a Coach , if you don’t Win .

Holtmann is 41 & 18 at OSU thus far.

Hoyas with those three freshman starters and NC State transfer big strikes me as a top 25-30 team next season. Nice pieces

Leblanc especially strikes me as one of the BE players who may never be a star but has an impact on he league for several years. Great piece for any team.

Agree Mase & coincidentally a good buddy of Greg Williams.

Gillespie really struggling for Nova with zero field goals at half and is getting abused defensively, Quinnerly seems the better player, but maybe does not practice well?

Could be Paultz, at some point you have to go a different way right

Agree, but Wright knows what he is doing more than me. :)

I know it's not at all likely but say we return everyone next year, besides Clark obviously, where do you think we would rank?

Obviously a top 25 team or better, but hoops world does not work that way unfortunately.

I think if Heron and Simon return we could be better than this year. Should have more depth (especially with big men), and I think the loss of Shamorie, could have a bit of the "Ewing Theory" effect on this team. Nothing against Shamorie, but I feel like they all rely on him a bit too much this year, and maybe rightfully so. Giving more touches to guys like Heron, Simon and Figueroa could catapult their level of play.

In transfer happy, leaving early world of college hoops today, it is best to see what roster looks like in April/May before predicting the next season.
Georgetown putting it on Nova!
The cliche On any given Sunday really does apply to BE this season. Top to bottom never been closer. This is why I am not too excited that our end of season schedule seems fairly easy as I am just as weary of the current bottom of the conference as I am at the top. We have already lost to 3 of our last 5 opponents and the two with Xavier appear pretty tough, to me anyway.

Xavier up 13 on Hall with 6:50 to go. Big East pretty unpredictable. Looks like we are going to get to play a Xavier on the rise.

Lmao, how many on here want to fire Jay Wright. Up 19 against St Johns, then Nova gets outscored by 24 points the rest of the game. Lost to Georgetown by double figures. I think that Jay is losing it. Failed to make adjustments in either game. Wonder if it is too early to begin thinking about Nate Oates from Buffalo. Maybe Fred Hoiberg can work his midwest magic right outside the City of Brotherly Love.

Of course I am being facetious, Jay Wright is not going anywhere. I am just pointing out how even good teams can have bad days, or there really is a lot of parity in the Big East. I hope that we finish the season strong and win at least 2 games in the Big East Tournament.
