Around College Basketball

I'm really hoping that this is a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately situation and top kids start to reject Kentucky after one crap season.

But if I had to guess, he might have had the best relationship with the assistant who just left.

Uh what in the hell are you talking about?  So saying that I don't think John Calipari pushed out a kid IN THIS SPECIFIC situation is the same as saying John Calipari NEVER PUSHES out a kid.  OK.

I am saying in this situation I don't see it.  And I think Tony Barbee leaving had more to do with it.  These kids develop a bond with the assistants who recruit them.

But yeah no doubt ia 5 start stud deciding to de-commit is definitely the same EXACT situation as a 2 star kid transferring from SJU.  Right.

So, you think CMA would push a kid out but not Cal?  Cal would absolutely push a kid out if he thought he had a better option, all of these kids are just one year rentals to him, he pays and promises whatever he has to, to get the best possible players to come play for him.  And if Cal has his eyes set on Alvarado and that's his primary focus, that's not a good sign, because he'll literally do and say whatever it takes to land him, Cal rarely loses a head to head recruiting battle and there's a reason why.

He is an incoming kid who hasn't even stepped on the floor yet.  A 5 star kid who thinks he is being recruited over before he steps on the floor?  I understand the transfer portal is a recruiting tool in itself but I don't think that is the reason.  I think Tony Barbee leaving is a big reason.

He is recruiting over him not pushing him out.

I think this is exactly right.

Tony Barbee leaving.

Why would Calipari push out a consensus top 30 kid when he has NO point guards returning?  None.

I honestly thought this happened months ago since it has been so well known for a while

“Most likely, Kentucky will add multiple guards in the coming weeks, and perhaps months, who are capable of running the point, be it in the transfer portal or in high school recruiting”

Emoni was never going to play one second for Izzo. He’s clearly G league bound.
Do you need to reopen your commitment to do that, though? Why wouldn't he just keep the commitment until it's time to announce he's G League bound?

Goodman is a real douche: "Stony Brook also likely gonna offer, per multiple sources. Head Coach Geno Ford currently watching tape on Bates".

Per Dick Weiss-
NCAA men's rules committee to discuss six fouls, quasi-quarters and reducing timeouts this week.

Six Fouls - I could live with this

Quasi-Quarters - Thanks but no (Its basically two more timeouts)

Reducing Timeouts - Yes please.

In addition to the timeouts allotted to each team, there are too many "extra" timeouts that teams get (ie: when a player fouls out and during a review of a disputed call). There are too many timeouts, which hurts the flow of a game.

Anybody like or dislike the notion of allowing a team to elect to move the ball to the front court after a called time out late in a game? Not only is it done in the NBA, it is also done in women's college basketball.

I wouldn’t cry about it if they implemented the advance the ball aspect, but personally I find it a bit too gimmicky. Would rather it stayed the same.

6 fouls please yes.  Unless you fire all the referees since they can't call a game to save their life.

No on the advanced ball.
