Around College Basketball

While not their football teams playing their annual “Iron Bowl” game, the Auburn vs. Alabama rivalry is always heated no matter what sport they are competing in.

Well the rivalry in basketball is stepped up a notch as they play in a 1 (Auburn) vs 2 (Alabama) match today in Tuscaloosa.

War Eagle vs the Crimson Tide. Buckle your seats.

So much for that Kansas State push for a bid. Getting crushed by the Mormons at half.

Almost every bubble team lost today. Pretty much the only ones that won were ones playing other bubble teams.

Going to be one or two teams that make it that don’t deserve it this year. And they want to add 8 more undeserving teams next year

The tournament has been devalued for years. Check out this year's top 16. Only one has no major college football...us. There's a propensity to overvalue wins against football schools, leaving Big East and Atlantic 10 teams on the outside looking in.
I don't see it that way. I don't think there are any non-football schools deserving to be in the top 16 that are being held back because they do have football. The reality is the football schools have more resources than everybody else and most have made substantial investments in basketball in recent years. If there were non football schools that dominated in the non conference against stiff competition they'd be right in the mix with everyone else.
