Around College Basketball

I forget who said it, but someone said the only real difference between us and Tennessee is they have Chaz Lanier and we don't. Hate to say it, but that's the separator between that Tier 1 (Duke, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Houston) and Tier 2/3 in college basketball.
I think the biggest difference is that we don’t have a shooting guard that can shoot. We live and die by getting multiple possessions.

That's Lanier. He's averaging 42% from 3pt this year. Averaged 44% last year.

And if you look at the team's stats, everyone else is identical to our team. Tennessee is rated #1 offense in country.

Met John a few times, he used to work out at St. John’s in the off season. Was a nice guy, gentle off the court but on the court a terror to his credit. I was actually in a pick up game with him once and made the mistake of going for a rebound while he was near the board, I was young and stupid. . Next thing I knew, I was on the floor looking up with big John hovering over me and asking if I was ok.👍

Goodman says they make a run at Pitino. I don’t think Rick is leaving here. For a number of reasons.
He probably has a max of 5-7 years left coaching, so I doubt he wants to do another 2-3 year rebuild in the middle of nowhere. Their NIL situation can’t be THAT much better than what he has here either.

I’d also like to think that he has a sense of loyalty to St. John’s and Father Shanley for taking a chance on him, a love for his hometown of NYC, and is enjoying the big time atmosphere of a rocking MSG.

Hs also just seems to be having a lot of fun. That does matter in these things.

Extremely predictable, and don't blame the coaches or players. This had to have a cash prize to make this even slightly interesting to participate in.

Honestly, the first I heard of it was maybe 3 weeks ago on one of our game broadcasts. IDK where this idea emanated from, but not well conceived... And, the day of the student athlete is truly bygone...
