Did Hoops mess up again?

Yesterday afternoon, the Univ. of Utah responded with a statement to reporter Brett McMurphy, "denying any notion that it is looking to leave the Big12. The statement from Utah Athletics read, "We are proud to be entering into membership in the Big 12 Conference in the coming months & excited to join our new colleagues and member institutions. A report over the weekend that suggested otherwise is completely fabricated & irresponsible." Over the weekend, veteran N.Y. Daily News sportswriter Dick Weiss "started up a realignment debate" by posting on X about a possible move to the ACC by Utah. Weiss wrote, "Speculation is circulating about potential shifts in college sports conferences. There is discussion about Utah possibly moving to the ACC despite its recent move to the Big 12, with some suggesting the ACC might be a better fit due to its ESPN network agreement and potential for increased TV value." Utah will officially join the Big 12 on July 1 (DESERT NEWS, 5/28)
Might be time to change his moniker to Dick Hoople Weiss. 😉😊

Hoops is ready for senior facility needing shuffleboard coverage

I posted this a while ago but I think it bears repeating. There are loopholes to everything. Marketing companies — in this case Influxer — are already finding ways around the rules to service their clients. I think we’ll see more international tournaments or games played outside the US. Just have the athlete spend a couple of more days at the venue. The marketing company will find ways to get you “passive income” which is allowed under immigration law.

So are INTL players now free to earn NIL?

Made zero sense. The Big 12 is stronger than the ACC and exponentially better positioned for the future.
