Screwing up a great thing approach


The powers that be (in just about everything) like screwing up great things all in the name of greed. The symmetry of the 64 team tournament was perfect. The play in games that expanded the tournament by four just devalued the bid but increased revenue some. Ninety will devalue the bids quite a bit more but will make more money. I hate all of this expansion of post-seasons in football, baseball, NCAA etc., etc......
Personally, I did not count our first four tournament invite during the last year of Mullin's coaching tenure as a real bid.
Maybe I am just showing my age or my distaste for strictly for profit based decision-making but a big thumbs down for me on this plan.
 
It reduces a bid to a participation trophy. "You're all winners."
Also makes it harder to evaluate coaches.

For example if this change happened 4 years ago Mike A would probably be in the tournament every season and we’d be feeling a lot better about him even if he hasn’t actually gotten us to a contending level
