Fiance of Beard - it was 'self defense' -

I think it has dawned on her that she isn't likely to find another fiance making five million a year. Hell, for that kind of money I might take a slap or two. Even if the charges are dropped, he has taken a big public relations hit. Couldn't she be potentially charged with making a false police report?
If I were Beard, once these charges are dropped, I'd drop her like a hot potato and leave her standing at the altar.

I learned the hard way myself. Psycho chics are good in bed but that ain't no reason to put a ring on it.

Well the bruises and bite marks came from someplace. Unless she is double jointed, I doubt they were self inflicted. Since when is biting someone part of self defense? Who knows what to believe? Now she’s saying he never strangled her and she never told police he did? That in itself is a lie. There’s a good chance that Beards attorney got a hold of her and told her it would financially advantageous for her to change her statement. Since I can’t believe that Beard would be dumb enough to maintain the relationship, she probably sees it as the only way to get out with some cash.

She initially told the police that she feared for her safety and along with the physical evidence, bruising and a bite mark, a restraining order was issued keeping Beard away from his own house. The police appear to have acted properly in this matter with Beards arrest and subsequent felony charge.

Although she has reconsidered and recanted, the state can still proceed with charges even without her testimony and cooperation. Women who are victims of domestic violence often try to drop the charges for various reasons such as reconciliation, fear of future assaults, financial dependency on the abuser and other considerations. Evidence of a bite mark and numerous bruises will tend to negate Beards self defense claim even when it is supported by his alleged victim who now has a credibility problem. The police reported that she said he strangled her and she denies telling the police that she was strangled. As a matter of first impression, I would give the police more credibility on that issue. The photographs of the bite mark and bruises will speak for themselves.

From press and police reports it appears that Beard had retreated to another room in the house. Apparently there was some tension and he created some space between them. She breached that space and poked the bear with a passive aggressive move by breaking his glasses (women often provoke men in this way i.e. setting clothes on fire, scratching paint on car, putting tires on flat etc.).

Properly provoked Beard probably did smack her around a bit after she broke his glasses. After all, he is known to have been a hearty drinker going all the way back to his days as a coach at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and that may have been enough to light his fire.

Beard claims he has an audio recording that will support his claim of self defense. Interesting that he did not share it with police immediately. If I were charged with robbing a bank at 10 a.m. last Thursday and I had hospital records showing that I was in a hospital having surgery from 9 to 11 a.m. of that same day, I would release that info to the cops forthwith and without delay HIPPA be damned.

Yup, Beard is no angel but Texas seems desperate to find a way to make this go away as a perennial top 10 hoops program under coach Beard translates into millions of dollars in revenue. It may just come down to the amount of effort (money spent) to change the narrative of the event, how much the original evidence can be changed, deleted etc. and what politicians, judges etc. are bought off to make this go away. In the current political climate where congressmen become millionaires over night and known criminals are protected by the political status of their parents/relatives, re inventing the circumstance of the Beard crisis is small potatoes.

That tweet is the culmination of 20+ years of incompetence and mismanagement. We have suffered thru it all and we’re still here lmao
The program his trended downward since Mike Cragg has been on board. Lousy OOC basketball schedules, losing games at MSG, lousy coaching search, losing Mike Repole as a benefactor.
