He's only projected as an early-to-mid 2nd rounder. That's likely why he's staying out. 15 to 20 years ago, he'd be projected as a top 15 pick.Bacot is an absolute beast. Shocker he's staying put.
The NLI will allow non guaranteed first round picks to stay in school and make money. It's a big deal. He's only projected as an early-to-mid 2nd rounder. That's likely why he's staying out. 15 to 20 years ago, he'd be projected as a top 15 pick.
I think they do have something in place. It’s in the NIL thread. The NLI will allow non guaranteed first round picks to stay in school and make money. It's a big deal.
If SJU had something in place for NIL who knows maybe Champ stays.
There's a big difference between having something in place, and having something in place that's attractive enough to a guy who thinks he'll be on an NBA roster next season.I think they do have something in place. It’s in the NIL thread.
They do but in some cases it won’t matter. If your done with school and ready to move on, your done. It will entice some to stay like Bacot and cause others to highly consider it but others will forego it and start the clock on their professional careers even knowing they might not get drafted. The NLI will allow non guaranteed first round picks to stay in school and make money. Well here it is Duke has 5 of the top 25 players coming in 2023:
Can you imagine what the NIL deal will be for this guy for him to pass up a potential first round pick in the NBA draft?Bacot is an absolute beast. Shocker he's staying put.

You're right, I figured with the success his team had with him basically carrying the team, he would be projected higher. He was a projected mid second rounder.
I believe Illinois is trying to make it worth Cockburn's while to come back as he is in a similar situation. You're right, I figured with the success his team had with him basically carrying the team, he would be projected higher.
You have to wonder why St. John's wouldn't do the same with Champagne as his NBA Draft prediction seems to be around early to mid second round pick, unless of course there is not a legit NIL opportunity to make it worth his while.I believe Illinois is trying to make it worth Cockburn's while to come back as he is in a similar situation.
We have two guys in middle now in Soriano and Niywe. Both improved as the season went on and if that trajectory continues over the offseason, we will two legit Big East caliber centers on the Roster. And Purdue adds another 7 footer. Will Berg, 7’2” Center from Sweden.Signs LOI for this year. The kid can play back to the basket, or step out for a 3.
That makes 14 years in a row with a 7 footer on the roster, and 12 years with a player 7’2 or taller.
And we struggle to find one guy!
I think the last time I rooted against Purdue was when they played us. I really like the program, but I feel like they've had a lot of plodding big men in those 14 years. Assuming we get a decent kid to fill the PF spot, I'm pretty happy with Soriano, Nyiwe, and Stanley platooning there (hopefully mostly Soriano). And Purdue adds another 7 footer. I follow Purdue very closely. My kid graduated from there, they are my second favorite program. I’ve attended many games at Mackey, (and Ross Ade for football). By and large I agree with your assessment. The pressure is on Painter to crack through. This year was a bitter disappointment. With the talent on that team, losing to St. Peter’s was frankly embarrassing.I think the last time I rooted against Purdue was when they played us.
