Around College Basketball (non-Big East) 2018/19

Per Goodman, not $habby;

Texas Tech Coach Chris Beard has agreed to a new 6-year deal that will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in country, source told @Stadium. In excess of $4 million per year.

F5 schools are going all out for coaches. Does not bode well for Big East remaining major with the growing financial gap. Any coach who is wildly successful in our conference will almost surely leave for big football schools. Only special coaches will stay who are truly committed and money isn't everything e.g. Jay Wright.

Ouedraogo told HuskerOnline.com that his interest in Nebraska started when assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih, who had been recruiting him at St. John’s, reached out and convinced him to come on a visit after joining head coach Fred Hoiberg’s staff.
Well, that answers that.

Matt is notching them up daily.
Good for him. He's working it.
This one seems 'under he radar' but had a few high-majors in pursuit.
He's the 'big' Matt never got for us.
Lol.
Although Steere could be 'that' guy for us.

I think Nebraska had 3 players coming back.
So that would leave 10 ships.
Like putting Matt in a candy store.

I always felt that the school and the head coach were by far the primary considerations for a recruit in selecting a college not counting the monetary payments by Az. Lou. etc. Matt, however, proves in his case the ass't. coach's relationship with a recruit can be the primary reason.

Yup. Also the Cameron Mack decommit was Matt-centric, although perhaps there were a few other reasons for that at the time.
Who knows, maybe Cam’s decommit will prove fortuitous, but it was a setback early on.

Wisconsin assistant injured in car accident, wife and daughter killed.
Absolutely tragic. G d bless Coach Moore and his family. Even if he makes a full recovery his life has been permanently altered in a terrible manner. Hopefully the young lady who caused the collision and died was not intoxicated. A horrible loss of life for both families.

Ineffable tragedy. My prayers go out to the victims and families who are also victims of this horrible accident.
God bless them all.
