Boy did I get this one wrong. Tar Heels second worst loss at home since 1986. To make things worse for ACC, Purdue also slaughtered UVA in Big Ten/ACC challenge.
On local talk radio this morning, announcers and Tar Heel fans wondering if this is Dean Smith's worst team in years; reminded me of redmen.com after a bad loss, lol.

Dean Smith?

Talk about a senior moment on my part!! I had just listened to a local sports guy say it was 2nd worst loss in Dean Smith Center since 1986 and another speculate that this could be one of Roy Williams worst teams in recent years - some serious unconscious mixing up of coaches resulted! Laugh of the morning. I better have another cup of coffee![/quote]
Let's see if John Wooden can get UCLA going THIS season. ;) :)

Ohio State looks to have a pretty good squad. Their closest game was an 8-point win versus Cincinnati. In their other seven games, they've won by 19 or more and disposed two top 25 teams in Villanova and UNC (#6 team in the road) each by 25 points.

I will say that I think UNC is a bit overrated, but I think they'll get it together in the next month or two. I don't expect the Tar Heels to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament as they're counting so much on youthful players (although, they are quite talented). I see a good squad who could get picked off in first or second round. But they may get themselves a favorable matchup or two.
Time will tell.

With that being said, I just don't view this bunch as one of your typical Tar Heel teams.

How many people on this board and elsewhere thought Chris Holtmann and Chris Mack were making a "mistake" leaving Butler and Xavier for OSU and Louisville?

They literally may have the 2 best teams in the country this year in addition to all the other resource advantages they have access to at those schools vs Butler and Louisville.

They made the right move. I thought they were right there with Jay Wright in terms of coaching. Still, Butler and Xavier are no slouches this tear. Best of luck to them.

I don't think I thought either guy made a mistake, but I probably thought Ohio Stay was making a huge mistake hiring a guy who may not have been able to recruit there. And that's why Ohio St. isn't paying me to make decisions.

Watching a little bit of the Maryland - Illinois game. Kofi is a load and a half.

The Ohio State team is looking like the best team in the country. Penn State has played pretty well this season and was dismantled late yesterday. Big Ten is probably the best conference in the country this season.

Nico Mannion had a nightmare shooting game against Gonzaga. He shot 3-20 from the field. Was missing everything but just kept firing. Despite that as I was watching him bring the ball up, all I was thinking was how fast he is with the ball and what great court awareness he has. The bad shooting was an anomaly, I know that kid can shoot. Will be a true test of our new harassing defense to see if we can fluster him into some turnovers.

The three freshman: Mannion, Nnjai and Hall are a really good trio. What a great recruiting class for Sean Miller (I know, I know...) Even Chase Jeter is looking more comfortable and productive in his role there. Really happy we scheduled this game regardless of outcome. Our schedule needed it. Always good to test yourself against a top team away from home.

Mannion's backcourt mate in HS was Spencer Ratler the #1 ranked QB prospect in 2019.

Even though they lost to Gonzaga their inside players are going to give us fits. Hopefully Steere can help Roberts some in this game. The kid Nnjai (sp) was very solid. That being said the Zags should have won this game by more points.

I love Few as a Coach but the kids on the floor made a couple of poor decisions going to the basket when all they had to do was kill clock.

Ohio State in a little trouble at Minnesota. Down 11 with 15 minutes left in the 2nd half. UNC without Cole Anthony loses to Wofford. This has been a weird season so far.

Every time I think we can have a shocking national champ, a major power wins it anyway. But this year really feels like a shock could await us.

Tough break

UNC freshman Cole Anthony is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure to treat a partially torn meniscus in his right knee yesterday, school announced.

Sources told me that the plan is still for him to come back and play this season.
