Anthony Livingston

Would much rather have one year of Livingston than two of Ali B. Guessing the higher ups didn't sign off on Livingston or Livingston wants to go somewhere where he'll get more PT.

A little dissappointed. Thought Livingston could give us some beef, rebounding and offense. Amar is a good teammate, He is 6 9 and likes to shoot from the outside .However IMO, RF will give us what Amar gave us and has a higher ceiling.

This is really frustrating. So we didn't retain CJ and AA for a transfer that our higher ups didn't approve? And this is after CJ scored 29 in our final game? Seems like we gambled and lost.

IMO, people are making WAY too much about CJ leaving. Had he had anything resembling a consistent productive year I could see it; he didn't. He unquestionably improved and I applaud him for that but him moving on was the right decision. How do we become a legitimate NCAA program with a player like CJ getting minutes over the young players that need to be play to develop? We experienced serious growing pains last year and may have some more (hopefully, significantly less) of the same this coming year but that's just reality. As for Livingston, I would not take this to the bank because it may be bad info but I have heard both sides soured because Livingston wanted some assurances of starting, minutes, etc. that put them on different pages.

Oh well, back to the 14/15 win prediction

That's about right with or without Livingston. He wouldn't have made a big difference. We just have to hope that Williams steps up and everybody else up front develops. Year after is when we should really see progress.

And Livingston who would have been a back up at the 4 and 5 would have added how many wins in your opinion ?
You would play Livingston in front of Yakwe who was all Big East rookie team and Sima who would have been all rookie had he not been injured I imagine ?
Not me.

Losing Livingston is problem number one. A bigger problem will be if AA returns and takes up a scholarship in 17-18.

Don't worry. They can force him out again next spring.

Just to be clear, Amar is who we should be talking about? I saw Happy and Paultz's little exchange and assumed they were talking about someone else. But then Amar started being discussed.

How do you know they weren't retained for Livingston? How do you know if we "kicked them aside, it wasn't for the transfers we already picked-up? Or maybe they just decided it was greener pastures elsewhere?

Earlier on this thread it was mentioned the higher-ups had approved so now we are saying they didn't?

We've been waiting three years (I am not including the redshirt season) for Jones to show what Lavin claimed he was and he finally did something in his last few games when chances are he already knew he wasn't coming back? Was it a tease? After being in the program for four years, if he was a pro, you trade him because his value will never be higher. If he where a free agent (which he is) he would be striking while the Iron is hot.

Maybe Livingston decided it wasn't the right fit or vice-versa. Maybe there was a pause on our side due to the incident last spring. Minds do change. Proof, the Five-star QB who de-committed from Texax A&M earlier this week which started a Twitter war and led to other de-commitments and guys taking A&M off their list of potential schools.

If we go into next season as presently constituted, I hope we don't have any of our coaches or fans yelling out to our players on defense during a game to "put a body on him" because we don't have any (except Clark and he's not eligible) BTW does anyone know who Mussini, Ponds and Lovett are riding respectively in the Derby today? ;) :)

Mussini has more of a tennis player's build... see him next to McEnroe

FWIW, Amar's nameplate is still up in the locker room....

I thought Amar was gently forced out? If the staff actually wants him back out of need, they are lucky he didn't tell them "No thanks, Iona wants me."

Most teams "gently force guys out", including SJU. We do tend to put a halo on our team, but rest assured Jones & Amar were "enlightened" to go. Not knocking it, just part of the game. Agree, it would be fortuitous if Amar stays.

surprised he didn't commit to Iona, unless they decided they didn't want him, or he thought some powerhouse program wants him and would give him minutes. Guess he's got a shot at UNLV.

Agree about losing the scholarship. Love Amar's enthusiasm and hustle, but fact is he's a .384 shooter, with a pathetic .286 pct. from 3-point range (a shot he's not shy to launch). He's also a turnover and fouling machine, slow on defense, and his decision-making leaves a lot to be desired (many of his cross-court passes are pure head-scratchers). Would rather sacrifice a couple of wins this year to land a blue-chip recruit or transfer for '17-'18.
