Anthony Livingston

Does Livingston come in as the starting power forward and move Yakwe to the high energy guy off the bench or does Yakwe start and Livingston become the bruiser off the bench? Owens serves as the primary backup to Sima I would presume.

That is what I will do. Some people just fainted with the thought of bringing Yakwe off the bench but Yakwe and Sima together doesn't really work. I like Yakwe's energy coming off the bench and Livingston as the starter

Endless options depending on matchups. Livingston making space and Yakwe beating everyone to the ball, Sima and Owens playing over the top of small opponents, any number of combinations. Depth and flexibility with two real ball handlers for the first time in ages.

That could, Fuchsia, be the theme for 2016-17:
Endless options! :)
When was the last time that happened in Queens :(

2013-2014 NIT team under Steve Lavin. Very talented team with plenty of options. Flamed out in first round of NIT

Not even close, you want to tell me there are no guarantees on our record next year I'm with you but this team has much better talent. On paper that team was deep but in reality not at all.

Just so I am clear, you are suggesting that this year's team has more talent than the 2013-2014 squad?

Well, yes that is clearly what I wrote and think. Of course, my definition of talent and yours might be two different things.
So if that team does more than ours next year then Lavin did more with less ? :)

No, not at all; is this years team playing the same teams that team did? Does this years team have the experience that team did? I am talking player talent, nothing else. And primarily talking shooting and playmaking. That team had one remotely consistent creative player, Harrison. I expect we will see much more than that next year. As Mullin said in his interview it is about players making plays. We shall see, just my opinion.

Sense a holdup, but no details.

Hopefully higher-ups not getting cold feet. Have to trust that your basketball team's staff performed due diligence.

Maybe a big part of the due diligence is gauging the young man up close and personal. Visits work both ways and this is a different type of recruiting; I would expect no one on the staff has a long term relationship with Livingston although I have no idea.

I would be curious to hear how you define talent. The 2013-2014 team had three players who were either drafted or are presently playing on the nba. And that doesn't include Harrisson, Jordan and obekpa, the last two of whom while head cases were extremely talented.

Their will be NBA players on next yr roster More than 2 will probably be drafted. Next yrs team will be more offensively ready. Shooters from all .all could create their own shots defensively I even think we will be better Blocked shots feel when the season is over we will have more block since more than one will be rebounding and having block capability Harrisons team was offensively challenged MO this team will eventual be better Lets see I am very optimistic

That 2013-14 team was a lot more talented then this team. This team can make the tournament and 13-14 obviously did not. But that 2013-14 had everything, Karr, DLo, Obekpa, Sheed, Sanchez, Phil, Dom, and all of them had played together a year or two except for Sheed. That team should've done so much more.

Will this spark up another Lavin debate?

So they "a lot more talented", "had everything" plus experience but couldn't even MAKE the tournament. With all due respect you guys look too much at rankings, mix tapes and confuse players who can make great plays with great players. Commitment to winning, attitude, intelligent team play are all parts of talent to me, not highlights and playing for pro contracts. We just disagree.

I'm the one looking too much into rankings and mix tapes? You're the one saying this team is more talented but you haven't seen Ponds, Lovett, Owens, Ahmed, or Freudenberg play a college game.

I was one of the first to say i think this roster can make a tournament, but that 13-14 team had an NBA player, a 2,000 point scorer, a talented shot blocker, a five star freshmen point guard, and two talented juniors in Dom and Phil. I agree commitment to winning and team play are parts of talent, but again you can't really use that in a "who has/had more talent" argument when the team you're arguing for hasn't played together yet

Too many bishops not enough queens. Much more balance and versatility. Lot of guys got in each others way on that team.

Sheed was MIA for a good part of the year. Hard , when your starting fr , point guard mises many practices. Also so many line up shuffles hard to get continuity. But , it was a talented team that is underachieved.

Was told Arkansas State grad transfer Anthony Livingston visit to #sjubb went very well. Uncertain if he will take more visits. From Zach.

Not a critique of D'lo because his role was to be the scorer and through that season he brought a lot of new effort to the game like jacking up his rebounding. But definitely a few other guys from that doobious squad. A lot of me-first attitudes on that team and that is a major reason why they underachieved starting with the Wisconsin game at the beginning of the season which set the tone.

Wow, so you use the argument I can't offer my opinion as to which team has more talent because I haven't seen them play a college game but you can say "That 2013-2014 was a lot more talented than this team" when I assume you have either also never seen next years team play a college game or you have mastered time travel. And I can use the intangibles I cited in an opinion because I have seen the returnees play, have seen Ponds play enough and have talked to people who's opinions I respect that have seen LoVett play extensively. The 2013-2014 team did not play as a team and had one quasi consistent player, period. Also, I clearly posted that my position was my opinion, nothing more. Your reply can explain to me why you think you are entitled to an opinion and I am not. BTW, Pointer did not show he was a talented contributor until the following year and with nothing better than Jordan's 5 star ranking to cite you reinforce my point. Greene had some talent and got the most out of what he had but he and Harrison were a decidedly slow of foot backcourt especially on defense which contributed to Obepka's shot blocking totals. Otherwise Obepka's was pretty much a complete liability. Finally, that "NBA player" helped sabotage the season by playing for his contract to the detriment of the team so I hardly put his making the Sixers in the plus column.

Lovett v Rysheed - Hard to say. Rysheed more talent and potential but head case. Lovett can be better if he's not a head case.

Shamori v Dlo - Shamori's a frosh, Dlo is an all time STJ talent. Edge Dlo based on age/maturity

Mussini v PGIII - Not even close PGIII

Ellison v Branch - Branch better shooter and less TOs

Ahmed v Pointer - Pointer, though jr year was by far his worst

Freudenberg v Hooper - Push until we see if Freudenberg can guard anybody, but I think RF has more potential, though likely not nearly the shooter Hooper is/was.

Yakwe v Sampson - Push, Yakwe has motor, Sampson has skills

Sima v Obekpa - Sima if he grows as a player this summer

Willams v Bourgault - TBA or inconsequential based on how you look at it

Owens v Sanchez - Feel like I know the least about what owens potential was but that shouldn't matter since Sanchez never lived up to his.

PS to those citing Wright's success with guards, he rarely relies on frosh to be his lead guard and team leader, always has a sr or jr leading the team, besides Arch's first two. Even then Arch shared leadership with Hilliard and Bell.

Not to disrespect anyone else on that team but with D'lo and Pointer you've got a great core. That was the difference. And I'd take Yakwe over Sampson without blinking. It doesn't matter though. Talent wasn't the issue. Chemistry and integrity were the problems thus the underachieving and the total, disgusting bitch out in the NIT.

I like yakwe but at this point in his career, he's nowhere near the talent Sampson was. Don't forget about gift.
