Anderson - is he really the guy ?

Lavin years looking real good these days to me.  School should have never of fired him.  If CMA is let go does not mean we will replace him with anyone better.  At least CMA cares to win and works hard.  Mullin really did not.

Next coach has to be a mid major coach that sees St John’s as an upgrade. We have to embrace this philosophy. Solid game coach who recruits to fit his system which should include kids who can shoot the three.
No more gimmick or quick fix hires

If we fire another coach it might not be easy to get a mid major coach who’s been able to win already to look at sju as an upgrade. We are so low on the totem poll for young up and coming coaches. Who would want to risk ruining a good thing to get run out of “bigger” job 3 & 1/2 years in.

Great job Coach.

Thanks for the worst season for me as a fan since Norm.

Feel bad for the kids.

Off season right now leaves me with little excitement that we have a chance to be much better.

Assuming he's not really the guy, he's the worst type of "not really the guy" in that he's among the best of them. So you'll get results like this season way too often, but enough good to keep him safe.

Leaving Posh on bench so long was a world-class screwup though. In his defense, a lot of coaches would make the same mistake . . . but I think they all studied the same stupid coaching manual from 1950. Sometimes you need to take things by the balls if you want to win, especially if you know your team was fully capable of blowing a huge lead.

And if Posh did come back earlier and fouled out MA would get shit for that also. Jay Wright would have tried his hardest to post Posh up and get him out of the game or give up easy baskets. He should never have been in that position tonight with those two questionable calls.

He's similar to going between 7-9 and 9-7 in NFL every year, and picking 16-18, while being a decent guy.  Eventually a decision has to be made.

His first year not having a losing season was a helluva a lot more impressive than this year.

Pharmaguy where are you I need to sleep !

You can get on him for having a disappointing season but tonight he coached his ass off and the kids played their ass off.

They just came up a bit short against the best team in the league.

Feel bad for them personally they played well enough to win.

Not from me he wouldn't. You'd have to bring that up with other posters.

I've never coached basketball save for a grammar school girls team that rarely had a lead so i can't answer the following question. Can you not feel momentum swinging badly when you are in the moment? Especially if you've coached in some capacity for 40 years?

Ive been critical of coach but he wasnt the reason we lost tonight.  And hes coming back aswe have our biggest recruit since Ponds coming in next year.  We are not about to lose Storr by firing anderson.  Its a miracle we even got a 4 star kid.

Finished up 1-11 vs. the top 6 teams in the conference. How people actually want another year of this ineptitude is beyond me.

With JC most likely gone and kids transferring out in all likelihood it's the perfect time for a transition year under a new coach. I don't even care if it's Pitino or some big name. I'd be very happy with Jared Grasso or Shaheen Holloway.

That's an abysmal stat...and add in the losses to the good non conference teams and its almost criminal.

I'm far from an Anderson apologist. I don't think he's the guy that will get this program back on a path of being a consistently good team. That said, there's a really fine line between being an NCAA Tournament team and being an NIT bubble team as evidenced by our KenPom ranking. We are currently ranked 60th, ahead of NCAA at-large teams such as Miami, Creighton, and Rutgers as well as bubble team VCU. This means that on a neutral floor we'd likely be pick-ems at worst against them if not small favorites.

Overall, this team is better than their record indicates but they are where they are due to being able to get that big bucket or big stop in close games. One could argue that's due to coaching and I wouldn't necessarily disagree.

Loss @ Indiana by 2
Win vs NJIT in OT
Loss vs Pitt by 2
Loss @ Yukon in OT
Loss vs Providence by 4
Win @ Butler by 3
Loss vs Yukon by 3
Loss vs Creighton by 3
Loss vs Villanova by 1

2-7 in games that were essentially toss ups at one point with less than 5 minutes to play. Flip two of those losses into wins and we're on the bubble. Flip 3 and we're in. Very fine line.

For the most part, we beat the teams we were supposed to beat this year.  The only "bad" losses, in terms of caliber of opponent, were Pittsburgh and DePaul (and the latter was just 1 out of 3 meetings).  Unfortunately our only two decent wins were Seton Hall on the road, and Xavier on the road, and that latter victory didn't age well.  In a way, the results of the games this season were really known before they started.  Unless you're ranked in the top 10, that's not good.
