Anyone going tonight? Went with my son last year and was one of the few over 40's in the crowd. Interesting smells in the air and a packed house. Wish our game crowds had 10% of the energy as the Midnight Madness crowd.

In effect this becomes a hip hop concert to attract students, and a juiced crowd is mainly to attract recruits in attendance. It's too bad the school cannot figure out a way to transform the interest in MM to support of the team during the regular season.

Some schools put a pass to all sporting events on student ID cards for about $200 for the year. Attending a sporting event requires you swipe your student ID which validates your season pass and awards points to your account in inverse proportion to how popular the game is to attend. For really big games where admission may be limited, only those with X amounts of points are allowed to attend and sit in student sections - in other words, their most loyal fans.

It's a different world. When I was at SJU...BC...it all hinged on the fate of the hoops team (and baseball to a degree).
