All Realignment Talk Here

If the new league does go to 12 members, it is possible that 7 will be from the midwest.
St. Louis is more important than Creighton IMO and Richmond or VCU are important for geographical balance.

I would rather just go right to 12 teams with Butler, Xavier, VCU, St. Louis and Dayton being added.

My Daughter attended Richmond.

IMO Richmond would be the worse school that could be selected to be a member of the C7.

Richmond has absolutely no school spirit.

Richmond athletics has absolutely no support among the Richmond community.

It takes me less than an hour to get from downtown Port Jefferson to Parkway Village (Union Tpke and Main Street) in anything but rush hour/summer weekend traffic. The expressway distance from Nicholls Road to Utopia Parkway is 41 miles (forget about 347/Northern State being quicker anymore, maybe when I was a kid). About 10 minutes from LIE to SB campus.

It's really not a bad drive at all. Some days I drive to the Queens campus and I'm like "wow I feel like I just left". 45 minutes is doable and I come from the south shore. As long as you are in the left lane or HOV keeping up with the faster traffic, you will definitely make it in less than 1 hour. It took me 1 hour flat with some decent traffic but with none it's a very easy drive. I used to drive up by Columbia in the Morningside Heights area of Manhattan and I once made it there in 1 hour flat door to door. From LI to Queens and other NYC areas, it's about traffic. Distance wise it's close.

VCU is a large, public university and are exploring big-time football. Don't see them being a candidate.

They just played their first season of club-level football. They have quite some time before they'd be close to having a FBS team. I don't think they are much of a threat to make a jump especially with many other big-time established program already in the state.

Georgetown is leading the hunt for new schools. They are in favor of Richmond. Don't want VCJ.

Richmond is a snob school with a ton of rich kids from Long Island.

Creighton is a lock in the new conference. There are some very good
relationships already established with president's.

Why are people talking about Stony Brook.

Some Long Island alums want to be able to see SJ play a game close to their home?
It is as nuts as Tony in Fairfield wanting Sacred Heart or Fairfield in the new conference!
I know a dozen families in Suffolk county and not one of their kids ever selected SB as a school of choice....even though it is outstanding academically. It is too close to home for many and has no sports identity for most.....even for the local islanders who cannot even name the conference they play in!

What about george mason? how come richmond is constantly mentioned but not them?

Richmond would be the smallest school in the proposed new conference I think even smaller than Providence. But their endowment last year was 1.8 BILLION

I think our core 7 plus Xavier,Butler, and Creighton would make for a great conference. If a couple of "special schools" came along later, so be it, we could explore those possibilities then. I would be very concerned about exploring any candidate that may have long term dreams or aspirations to chase football in the future. We have gone thru this nightmare, once is enough.

I am probably the only Richmond/St. John's alum here (maybe anywhere)

A couple things about Richmond that might not be obvious

1.We have FCS football...but we are similar to Villanova in that we aren't going FBS any time soon (Stadium size, school commitment etc). Unlike Villanova, our on-campus stadium is brand new...basically telling everyone that FBS is not in the cards.

2. Richmond is starting phase I of comprehensive renovations to it's on-campus facility

3. Richmond recently started a lacrosse program. I understand the whole point is basketball, but the C7 need another school for 6 programs. 6 programs gives an AQ for the conference. The C7 will need someone for this, unless its a school just for lacrosse.

What's the requirements and how long would it take for Richmond to go D1 in lax?

Also why doesn't Marquette play BE LAX?
