All Realignment Talk Here

Think exit 32 is little neck pkwy and i live in huntington and from me stony brook is 25 miles and 40 min, STJ is exit 25 so maybe driving at 2am from stj to sb is 45 min but going to a weeknight gMe at 7pm good luck

Like I said though, with Stony Brook and any other coastal areas in the vicinity north or south shore, it takes 10 minutes+ just to go all the way north or all the way south via Nichols Rd., so it's not that Stony Brook is far east...it's just all the way north which adds time and makes it seem deceivingly far. Ronkonkoma is in the middle of the island right below SB and the same distance east of NYC. If you look on google maps from Ronkonkoma to SJ (Queens) is 45 min and 38 miles. It's quite close with no or light traffic. I used to have night classes and there was barely any traffic on the LIE eastbound on my way home. To go 38 miles in 40 minutes only requires an average of 57 MPH on the LIE which is completely doable considering the left lane averages 65-70 MPH with little traffic. If you talk to people in Nassau or Queens they will make it seem like exit 62 is Wyoming, but the truth is if you leave at an off hour, you can go from exit 62 to the Nassau border in 20 minutes, the Queens border in 35 minutes, and SJ in 40-45 minutes.

First siena, now Stony Brook. People are really digging. There are enough quality basketball programs for the league. No need to turn over rocks in search of them.

Siena, Stony Brook......and keeping with the "S's".... Sacred Heart.
I think some folks are worrying that the new conference will be Midwest-focused and that is why a Siena is mentioned. It would be sad if some C7 president loses focus and sees it that way.
Clearly, DePaul, Marquette, Xavier, Dayton, Butler and St. Louis are all Midwestern schools.
Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's, Seton Hall, Providence need another "eastern" school to balance the 12 team conference.

That "eastern" school could be a VCU, George Mason, Richmond or other. Forget Siena, stony brook etc. small time.

Stony Brook, Sacred Heart, Siena, most of Atlantic 10 are small time and not needed in a
new basketball conference. They all do a great job being mid - majors.

I dont know how one could consider the MAAC calibre schools over VCU for the C7. But like I said . Id rather play Stonybrook, Iona or Sienna over NJIT or Manhatten.

That money quoted from Fox sports will be a pipe dream with the names mentioned. As a matter of fact it could be
a pipe dream anyway.

What makes you think the money is not real?

Ignore the names mentioned above. Thats just crazy talk from people.

Moose,
Let me just say that I heard from a reliable source that it may be a ruse.

Understood. Then Fox Sports and the C7 are sure pulling a fast one over the entire sports industry. This day and age I think thats pretty hard to do.

It takes me less than an hour to get from downtown Port Jefferson to Parkway Village (Union Tpke and Main Street) in anything but rush hour/summer weekend traffic. The expressway distance from Nicholls Road to Utopia Parkway is 41 miles (forget about 347/Northern State being quicker anymore, maybe when I was a kid). About 10 minutes from LIE to SB campus.

Not advocating them to join us, but they can really make things interesting if they go BCS in the next decade. Many people don't realize but SB also has a Manhattan campus.

And a Southhampton one, if you want to hang by the beach.

It doesn't seem like a whole lot goes on there.

It is a pretty sweet location, though, assuming you aren't trying to get home from there on a Sunday afternoon in the summer.

Primarily being kept for the Marine Biology program. My wife did her freshman year at Southampton College back when it was private.

Something is amiss. The old big east numbers quoted for football which drives the sport are less than the BB numbers for the C7.
I guess we will have to wait for everything to play out with contracts signed before an accurate picture can be assessed.

It's not that crazy to see a brand new network in Fox Sports 1 wanting to pay premium for all these top DMA's. Also nothing a few crappy negotiators on the BE side couldnt be fixed.

Interesting info on the new hoops only league. Catholic 7 plus Xavier, Butler, and Creighton or Richmond. Look like they want to start with 10 teams. Marquette pushing for Creighton. Georgetown and others pushing for Richmond
