All Realignment Talk Here

I dont think its true. Both have a good shot at being taken by the ACC.

Not if they don't have defections. And BC doesn't want UConn in.
I have read that BC may be going the BIG10 w/ other ACC schools. That open UCONN & Cincy to the ACC

Not shocked if it's true, but if we are going to let teams park football somewhere, I'd invite Memphis first. I initially wanted Temple too, but no need to piss off Villanova. And absolutely no Cincy. I only want one team in that city, and it's not UC.

Agree about Xavier vs. Cincy, which doesn't have the BE history that UConn does and which probably shouldn't have been admitted into the BE to begin with. And, yes, most of us hate UConn, but they are a charter member of the BE, they are a recognized national power, were an elite program under Calhoun, and have a great fan base (which most of us envy), and adding them would be a huge, huge upgrade over most the teams being mentioned. (Gee, let me think, would I want UConn -- a secular school, by the way -- or Duquense?) As for UConn's looking to go to the ACC, punish them by including an astronomically high exit fee and a guaranteed minimum of years written into any agreement with the new league.

Big 10 only has two openings left, and UNC is reportedly one of them. And I've read Ga. Tech or Virginia is other.

Apparently whoever started the rumor that Yukon may move to the C7 never spoke to Yukon's Athletic Director who flatly denies the rumor in the bel;ow linked article.

one quote in the article

"UConn athletic director Warde Manuel. Manuel, through a school spokesman, said UConn has not had any conversations with the Catholic 7 or the Mountain West. Manuel also said UConn is committed to its football program and its other sports playing in the same conference."

And we're supposed to trust this guy, who openly flirted with the ACC.
Yeah, I'll take his word.

Yeah, I'll take his word.

Uconn and their sack of shit president lie with a straight face when they say:
"Reached later Friday evening, Manuel said, "We've never had a conversation. Our intent is to work with the remaining members of the Big East and the current members coming in. That's been our intent all along. We have not had a conversation with any other group, any other conference, period. I have not had any conversations."

SURE....that's been their intent ALL ALONG!

Tell UConn and Cincy to take a hike. We don't need them. They need us.

Just a year ago they were beating their chests.

Tell them we have a new motto: C7- We don't do football.

He had no conversations, everything was via email LOL

I will take Memphis, UConn, Cincy ONLY if they essentially sign their lives away that they have to stay here. Have football in another conference, but make sure you keep basketball and everything else with us. The penalty should be some insane number like $200 mil. so even if they leave, who cares? We will be rich. It serves the same purpose as a 400 year life sentence from a judge...it's more psychological and shows the seriousness. If they really want to join that bad it will be by OUR terms, not theirs. Also, can we still get Butler and Xavier then add Cincy/Memphis, and UConn? This way even if UConn, Cincy, and Memphis leave one day, we still have Butler and Xavier and we just downsize without having to add anyone. I think it's foolish to turn down UConn, Cincy, or Memphis basketball to add to our brand. All we have to do is draft a very restrictive contract with almost mythical consequences attached i.e. the 100 or 200 mil penalty for leaving. We have the leverage. If they say no, then goodbye enjoy rotting. If they say yes, it's a win win. We either get more great basketball schools or we get an insane amount of cash.

We started at the beginning as a basketball conference, it took an eternity for the Big7 to muster the nerve to sever their ties to the football schools. For years, we were not even talked to about what direction the Big East was going. We were treated as second class citizens by the "Football Schools. We tagged along picking up the crumbs along the way. We had no voice, no power, no leverage. Then lightening struck, 7 Presidents met one day to discuss what might happen if they mustered enough nerve to tell the football schools that we were going in a different direction. We announced it to the world and it was as if the weight of the world was lifted off their shoulders. I think they walked around in the early hours of the decision to leave, in a fog.
The announcement was recieved in a way that none of the Big7 could have imagined. I think much to their surprise they found a sport community eager to see the product and were willing to pay to see it succeed. I am sorry, if I sound vindictive, but after the years of fear, anxiety and frustration we experienced, I would say yes I am vindictive. We have proven in a very short time we have shown to the world that the Big7 is a formidable force without ANYTHING to do without a football school being anywhere near us. I would think we can add 3-5 EXCELLENT teams with absolutely nothing to with football. Let's take this ride with like minded schools,,,,let the football schools go where ever they wish.

I hope a lot of you just had the pleasure of watching the Butler-Gonzaga game. I am thrilled that we will be sharing a conference with one of them, and I wish it was two. Felt like late March.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing last night. Very well played and well coached, and the crowd was rocking. That game was fun. Would love both to join our conference for the sake of competition, but not sure that Gonzaga can really work given the travel (even if St. Mary's joined as well). If the powers that be can make it work, we can be rest assured that the conference play would more than get us ready for the tournament each year. Good stuff.

SEC would never add Duke. They play marginal football. Some of the other stuff I could buy, but not Duke to SEC which is absurd.

Please please please let this be true. Syracuse & Pitt leave the best basketball league for the ACC only to have them get raided as well. All this talk about Syracuse playing Duke & UNC in the Garden, oh this would be the mother of all just desserts if it happens.

Even CBS has jumped in on the rumor mill

When all of this conference realignment started, many "pundits" predicted that, when the smoke cleared, there would eventually be four 16 team football superconferences

Looks like we are certainly heading in that direction
