Kevin Willard just became my hero with those comments.

He's a legit reporter despite the fact this article appears on his own personal blog.

He says it's just a matter of negotiating the right price, but that the BE is going to sell the name/brand to the Catholic 7.
Also, BE will invite Eastern Carolina as a full member very shortly.

1). Big victory to get Big East name. Will cost a few million, but we have more than that due to us anyway.

2) ECU in all sports... Hahahaha. Big blow to the basketball league.

Lmao omg the Big East basketball is going to crap so fast. Tulane, UCF, SMU, East Carolina...wow. Can we negotiate to leave after this season like other teams did to us? Why do we have to wait 2 years?

Because we don't have the money to get out early.
 
I do agree that UConn, Cincinatti, Temple, and Memphis are a pretty good foundation for their basketball. USF isn't bad either. But they are just going to go through the same crap when UConn, Cincinnati and possibly USF get poached. Thats when they will be hurting in both sports. Especially basketball.
 
Unfortunately for Memphis and temple it is likely that Yukon and Cincinnati will not be members of the Smurf Conference" for long.

Yukon and Cincinncpati will do all they can to bail as soon as possible on their esteemed partners Central Florida, Tulane, temple, SMU USF and others.
 
Butler is in a pretty big market in the Midwest and it's a hotbed for recruiting. Basketball and Indiana go hand and hand.
Xavier has been consistently good.

But can the other programs become big time programs ? Look how long it's taken with Depaul and South Florida. How good were the origional Big East teams when they first joined the BE ? did they start out as OK teams and build from there ?
I still say we should add UCONN and Memphis , it'll give the new conference a big boost and they aren't going anywhere with their football programs. If those 2 schools leave we can always pluck 2 from the A10. No big deal. It's only disruptive when 8 or 9 teams wanna leave , but 2 ?
 
Dayton does have a real good young coach in sean miller's brother archie and they sell out a 15,000 seat arena and are their cities pro franchise and at least they are only in Ohio which is why I would take them over Creighton (Nebraska-no thank you). Plus I went to UD Law.

What would UConn do w their FB. They think they are big time. It would work out better if we targeted Temple, They know what their FB is.
 
At this point, I'm just glad we are safe ourselves. We will obviously take a few steps back replacing top 10 teams with top 15-25 teams, but we will still be considered a major hoops conference that probably gets 4-5 bids annually. An ACC raid would just be fun to watch.

An ACC raid might even result in that conference targeting St. Johns, Georgetown and Nova, depending on their calculations at that point.

If faced with the prospect of renewing rivalries with Cuse, Pitt, Uconn, plus new ones with Duke and UNC, vs being in a conf with natural midmajors like Seton Hall and Prov, I wonder how loyal those three would actually be.

If the ACC really wants to be a top football conference they need to rid themselves of Duke and North Carolina. So let them join the new BE. Now that would be a Conference !!!!!!!! We can dream can't we? lol
 
I would like 10. teams in our conference.we already have 7 excellent universties in the Big East I really like the name.Other teams could to make 10 are BUTLER ,CREIGTON,VCU,DAYTON,ST.LOUIS,etc. This make a super conference.

You may want to check how highly ranked Butler and Xavier have been recently.
