All Realignment Talk Here

Man, this is some disheartening stuff. We go from Big East originals/perennial to a member of a basketball only conference - and that's a best case scenario

Honestly, if true it would have to be the latter. Unbind us all from this mess and move on. It all rides on UConn and Louisville. if they leave it's over.

A little bit OT, but if it goes that direction, I really hope to see all participating schools add D1 Lacrosse if they aren't going to play D1 football. Would love to see the continuation of Big East Conference lacrosse even if not will all existing teams.

If it's up to UCONN or L'ville, then it's over. Because neither of those schools are long for the Big East. I think that much is obvious. Likely Cincinnati as well.

The timing on all this is going to be interesting.

I can not see UCONN and UL not taking an ACC offer, unless UL gets a BIG12 offer. Will be very suprised if those 2 do not announce their departure from the BE within 6 mo. That is the sad reality of the situation.

The original BE was a hoops only conference.

I totally agree and that is probably why the BB schools might finally be saying enough is enough.

This whole thing is like a giant soap opera!! My .02, the BE is in deep doo doo. Obviously football rules the tv Roo$$t, and we (and the other BB only schools are on the outside looking in. Sju and Gtown to the acc would be great, but what about Providence? Where do they go?? They have no NYC, no MSG nothing! Are we all a package deal? Take one, take all? My head hurts.

If you're so concerned about Providence, then are you not equally concerned about BE charter memberSeton Hall? And what about Villanova, which joined in year 2?

As you so aptly describe it, the Big East "is in deep doo doo," and if Syracuse, BC, and Pitt (a BE member for 20 years) have shown indifference to the other schools in the conference, with UConn ready to go at a moment's notice and with rumors that not long ago Nova was looking to move as well, why should a fuzzy sense of allegiance to Providence and Seton Hall keep St. John's, if offered, from playing in the nation's best or next-to-best basketball conference? Is it because St. John's, Georgetown, Providence, and the Hall have special ties because they're all Catholic schools? BC and ND are Catholic schools too, and they don't seem to be wrestling with any Catholic guilt over their moves. It would be great see St. John's, Georgetown & Providence all go to the ACC, but I don't think the future of our program -- especially if we want to keep Steve Lavin here -- should be tied to Providence's or any other school's future.

P.S. On a lighter note, looking at your photo, I can see why your head hurts. (It's hurting me too.)

FWIW, I think that West Virginia person on twitter isn't reputable. I looked back at some of his tweets, and he seems to just be in the business of starting rumors.

But that doesn't change the fact that we probably will have a basketball only conference eventually.
It's just that on second glance I think his comment about SJU calling for a vote today is bogus.

If this guy is FOS, he's very good at it.

MHver3 MHver3 St Johns and GT Introduced a vote to dissolve the BigEast today. They were 2 votes short of the 2/3 needed. 3 schools were no shows. MHver3 ‏ @ MHver3 Depaul and Marquette only non-fb to vote no.

I don't know what's dumber, this tweet or the fact that the presidents would not consultate prior to said vote.

There's no way something that big wouldn't have been leaked, so if it's not on ESPN, he's full of crap.

Do a Yahoo search about the Big East disolving , other schools are talking about the same things we are. It's not just a simple twitter message .
Maybe St. John's got an invite to another conference and they wanna vote to dissolve the Big East so they won't have to pay the 10 million exit fee. We all know Father Harrington is very cheap and this is the onl;y way to avoid paying the exit fee. Make sense ?

Based on your math, he'd be better off letting all the football schools leave one by one and just sit back and collect their exit fees.

MHver3 is an internet hack looking for attention. The reason other message boards are talking about the BE dissolving is because of him. Go back through his tweets of the past month. Every few days he has some unbelievable new news that no one else has and it never comes to fruition. For example, yesterday he wrote that the Pac10 has been talking with Houston and SDSU. OK. Whatever. I have to say he's been entertaining.

Never underestimate the value of entertainment.
Alexd what do you want for your beloved Huskies?

Completely ridiculous. No big-time conference would let that junk in. Oh wait. . .

"Espn stepping in. Telling the ACC to invite both UL and Uconn. "

Where there is smoke there is fire. We know this realignment is not complete. The Big East is not in a strong position. I just hope the people in charge have a plan that goes beyond staying in a watered down Big East.
