All Realignment Talk Here

To those who keep saying we have no leverage. Not really, because big brother ESPN has our back. ...

Joe, I've worked in sports TV and I can assure you ESPN (which was ruthless in my dealings with them) has nobody's back but its own.

One article I read several months ago alleged that Boston College opposed admitting Yukon. I bet the the University of Syracuse (a/k/a "new York's Team) would not be pleased about sharing it's ACC turf with Yukon.

Jim Boeheim let this slip out:

"Maybe they should just have a draft, each conference should just draft teams ... except then they'd have to make a decision and they wouldn't be able to figure it out. Eventually, they'll get this thing figured out. They'll get all the teams moved and then in a year or two someone will say `We need to take somebody,' ... But I'll be long gone by then."

I hope Chris McCullough realizes this.

I just hope the ACC doesn't take Gtown and leave us out. That would be a major blow to attempting to put together a great hoops league. I hope we can stick together.

Let's face it: the Big East, as we all know it, has been dissolving before our eyes. Time to pull the plug.

If G'Town leaves then it's not about football. Meaning we come along for the ride. In the G'Town, Nova, SJ, scenario it's not about football, it's about MSG, major markets, and ratings.

Rutgers and Maryland to the Big was not about football.
Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC was not about football.
It is all about TV revenue streams and the 4-eyed fu*ks, aka, college presidents are sacrificing decades of rivalries, tradition, and success for TV money even if their schools become cellar dwellers in their new conferences. There should be a Harvard case study on BC's move to the ACC to enlighten these scholars calling sports shots out of their arses!
Oh wait, I forgot, it is also about success academically, by association!!! The Rutgers and Maryland grads can now boast that they got their degrees in the same sports conference as the grads from Northwestern and Michigan!! Those kids at Nebraska are thinking the same thing!!! Yes, in the end, the presidents can say it was all about academics and not football or BCS Bowl games and God forbid, schools with 7 billion $ endowments........that is was all about an extra 12 million per year in TV revenue!!!

NOTE .... The above senerio may aid St.John's in banding with ACC orphans

My first hope is for St.John's interests to be enhanced by coupling with the ACC orphans.

If that dies not happen, I hope $yracuse and PITT$ are passed over.

Let's face it - as fans we are all duped. It's not about any connection between the players and the school, the team and its fans, the college and alums. It's not about long time rivalries - some almost a century old. It's not about pride in your school. There isn't a connection between the guys in school uniforms and excellence in the classroom. There aren't many student athletes in big time college sports, mostly aspiring professionals. It isn't college teams played by serious students. The fact that it's a university that provides the arena, the uniforms, the coaches, and players is immaterial.

It's a big business with serious dollars at stake. It's screw everything else that is important to the duped fans, and grab for all the money you can.

It's been that way for a very long time, but it's only when things such as the imminence conference crumble is clear, that you know you are screwed as a fan. Sure, we feel happy when a wealthy successful alum steps up and kicks in a large sum of money in order to have influence over the program and help the team hire a big time coach, but that very fact is symptomatic of the problem.

Demonizing opposing coaches like Calhoun, Boeheim, whomever. Just a way for the foolish masses to care more about these silly games when we should. As the turnstyles turn, as our interest grows, TV networks will pay huge bucks for the right to broadcast these games and sell commercial time.

We're not fans, we're pawns.

LET'S HOPE THAT THE ACC GETS WHAT THEY DID TO THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT STARTED THIS ALL. LET THE BIG 10 AND THE OTHERS GET THE REVENGE FOR THE BIG EAST AND LET THEM ASK THE QUESTION ,WHAT'S HAPPENING TO THE ACC?

For an on-line paper that is focused on west virginia athletics they seem to have a lot of connections to know as much purported information as they claim. I wonder how much they truly know vs. conjecture. It would be a lemonade out lemons story for St. John's if were all true.

Wow, ACC appears to be in worse shape than Big East and could come crawling to us (LOL)

Over the summer Syracuse and Pitt fans were so happy and now their new home is on the verge of collapsing

assuming the ACC collapses , a merger with the castoff ACC members will make our new league very formidable basketball wise.
Duke, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Pitt, Villanova, Georgetown, Marquete, Boston College, St. John's, Memphis, Temple, UConn, Seton Hall, SMU , South Florida, UCF, Houston ,Depaul, Cincinati and maybe Notre Dame.
This new league would be better then the old Big East or the old ACC was in basketball and it would be the best in the country hands down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and most important, increase the exit fee to 50 million like the ACC did ! it didn't help them but it'll keep this new league from bolting ( most of them ) !

and what would the new league be called ?
