ALCS: YANKS VS. ASTROS

It won't happen but throwing it out there.

What if Yankees take next 2. What does Houston do in Game 7? Its interesting scenario to wonder why they would throw Verlander and Cole next 2 starts. Throw one of them fine but stash Cole for 7?
They announced Cole for game 6 already? If the Yankees can somehow push this thing to 7 both teams will ned a 4th starter somewhere.

Either game 6 or 7 both teams will need to use a 4th starter. If the Yankees get this to Saturday do you use Severino on 3 days rest and use Happ for a potential game 7 or reverse it.

And if your Houston do you save Cole for game 7 and use whoever is their 4th for game 6?
If I'm Houston, I save Cole ffor Game 7 or Game 1 of World Series.
If I'm the Yankees, I tell security not to let Happ into the stadium.

So whats your solution?
Not my job to come up with solutuins. I'm a fan and get to complain when performance is sub par. :) :cheer:

Yanks have a ton of highly paid executives to come up with solutions.
True

But if you're going to complain I think you should bring some more to the table.

They won over 100 games. Something was working. Seems like people want to blow it up because of a bad 3-4 game stretch. What beats good pitching? More contact hitters? Less home run hitters? Maybe then they don't win over 100 games. Maybe they don't make playoffs? They had the best record against teams over 500. The Dodgers had best ERA in MLB. They beat them 2 out of 3. Rays were 2nd in MLB and they beat them easily pretty much all season until last series when they were checked out. Astros were 3rd FYI. They lost season series to them. Seems like a matchup issue. Do you build a team just to beat 1 team?
All excellent points and examples. It just seems that every year there is at least one team built to beat the Yanks.

Stating the obvious, but that homer by Hicks was huge. Thanks God it wasn't left up to Sanchez. Now if Paxton can pitch decently after being staked to 3 run lead, maybe we can make a series out of it. Big if, though.

If we can hang on and take it to game 6, Romine needs to catch. Sanchez is just a huge liability right now offensively and defensively. Strong 5 innings from Paxton which was huge.

Hopefully bullpen can protect this lead to send us to Houston, but very discouraging that our bats are still really dead. Stanton, Sanchez, Encarcion - where are these guys when it counts?

I've been saying the same thing all season. Since he came off the IL he has looked even worse. Romine was actually hot at the end of the season.

This sort of reminds me of the Cubs/Indians WS in 2016. Indians led 3-1 and Cubs won a tight game 5 at home 3-2. Well pitched by Jon Lester who went 6, Paxton went 6. Chapman got the save in 2016, Chapman closed out tonight.

Need to jump out early on Astros starter in game 6.

game 5.
oh what a comeback. and against Justin our miss brooks velander.
"good pitching stops good hitting" said by adam o
"except when it doesn't" said gardy the speedster.
bravo. bravo Paxton going 6, throwing 112 pitches.
the only houseten run comes on an infield single & 2 "wild" pitches.
bravo boone for making all the right pitching moves. keeping Paxton past 100 pitches. yanking kahnle quickly. letting britton go over an inning. not using adam o.
chapman only threw 9 pitches & should be able to pitch game #6. green is rested.
nice to see hicks get the gamer after missing so much of the season.
kudos to mvp dj for his stick & leather.
please speedster & Stanton & kraken break your slumps.

As he knocks in our first run - sometimes it's good to admit you were dopey....

If Yanks lose this, it will be because of empty bats not pitching. Like having Didi up with bases loaded.

Didi has no patience. None. Free swinger. Weak ground ball on 1st pitch.

Crying out loud work the count a little.

I think Didi is bye bye after this year btw.

I have a feeling the Gardner line drive and the diving catch by Reddick is a omen that this will not be the Yankees night or series.
