ALCS: YANKS VS. ASTROS
Maybin starting for Stanton tonight

Hmmmm
Gotta be an injury, or numbers vs. Verlander. It certainly is not a punishment for bad performance, based on last night's game. He hasn't run well, so I'm guessing his knee is barking. I knew I didn't like carrying 13 pitchers.

Right quadriceps injury.

Even match after one. Plate ump is missing some calls.

Very big for Paxton to get out of that inning with only 1 run scored. Hopefully our guys start to get a little read on Verlander; he's just tough.

I'm sorry, I just don't get taking Green out there. He has basically been untouchable; let him finish the inning.

game 2.
tough one run on the road extra innings loss.
the called 3rd strike on kraken was a bad call - ball was outside.
many, many pitches on the paint. tough game to be a plate ump.
never should have taken green out.

Call on Sanchez was bad but it was clearly a makeup for the missed call on the pitch prior.

As I have stated many times here and on Twitter, Boone scares the hello out of me.
Clearly overmanaged the pitching last night. Could have gone longer with Paxton and Green, and gotten 3 innings out of Britton and Chapman with the day off today. Ultimately, the Yanks still have not figured out Verlander and I'm not sure if they can beat Cole either. Too many holes right now in this lineup.

Yanks went to Houston needing to win one. Check.
Verlander and Yanks outcome, a draw.
Where's Betances when you need him?

I was incredulous that Boone took Green after he just struck out the lead off hitter . I thought to myself he must be mentally ill to do that and put in Ottavino who promptly gave up the Homer to Springer and looked shaky the rest of the inning . I wanted the cameras to see the look on Boone’s face right when the Homer was hit , but they didn’t show him . Green looked royally pissed the rest of the Night . Couple that Managerial mistake with LeMahieu getting thrown out at the Plate by a country mile and it’s understandable the Yanks lost . Oh , I nearly forgot putting the kid pitcher in there , after Chapman only pitched a inning was bizarre also . The Kid couldn’t find Home Plate if he had a GPS ! I haven’t liked Boone since he replaced Gerardi and I think a Dozen Managers not named Mickey Callaway could win 100 games with this Yankee lineup . Hope the Yanks can handle Cole but , not so sure .

Taking out Paxton I get it. Don't agree with it but I get it.

Greene was dominating. With the day off today he could have kept him going.

Instead he brings in Ottavino who was a little sluggish the night before. First pitch boom.

The Chapman move puzzled me. I guess he was trying to get 2 innings out of him but he labored. I then said to ppl I was with CC should come in and try to get thru the order once. Usually that's not an issue for him. Then it goes off the rails. He brings him in for 1 batter. Then Loaisaga who I'd like to know when he pitched back to back before.

Last night was house money but when you have a lead on Verlander that changes the focus of the game.

Houston's offense has been terrible this post season. Our pitching is not elite and they only allowed 3 runs at the Juice Box this weekend. They are also a shell of themselves on the road.

Do not be surprised to see a sweep in the Bronx if these trends continue. Hardest challenge will be getting past Cole tomorrow for game 3.

Paxton cost us the game. He pitched 2-1/3 innings, gave up 4 hits and 2 walks. He has to go deeper and not stress the bullpen like he did.
DJ trying to score was the right call. Green (2 innings, 2Ks, 26 pitches) being pulled when he was probably a little quicker than he should have been.

Hope we can jump on Cole, early and often, and clinch in the Bronx.

That's why I didn't go nuts over it. Nothing against Gary, but I kind of didn't want him to come through after that pitch. As Yankee fans, we'd never hear the end of it.

BTW, I bet that becomes reviewable next year. That's twice in this postseason that's been missed, and it's very obvious that the ball hitting the plate, or the bat, make similar sounds (even though the plate is not made of wood).

Agreed about never hearing the end of it. And when he didn't I kind of expected it to end quickly. And it did.

Paxton could have gone deeper but Boone has a much quicker hook than after last year. He was laboring but it was hardly a disaster.
