Adonis De La Rosa,

If he gets two or three more DNPs in a row, I'm going to assume he's redshirting and Lavin is not telling us for some reason. And then also assume that is the reason CtK coach called Lavin a liar in that twitter rant.

Mennefield was a 4 not a five, maybe you are thinking of another transfer, Mitch Forster.

Your overall point is received.

every post on this board is premature being that we've only had one damn scrimmage.I really wish the guys on this team read the board so they can see the support they have behind them

I didn't attend the game and even if I had, I still wouldn't put much stock into it because this early you know there is still a lot to work on and a long way to go even if we blew them out.

I saw some real good teams in the past play some real bad basketball in exhibition and early season games against supposed cupcakes.

We know there are question mark's and this game wasn't going to answer them one way or the other. Nor will next weeks.

Dangerous assumption. He may have a great week of practice and Lavin will play him in one game for 10 minutes and burn his redshirt.

I generally take the positive outlook if for no other reason than I want to believe. So, while I agree in principle that 1 game does not a season make...my concern is that the same "me first" tendencies appeared...we just don't seem to have a floor general who recognizes when to take control, run some clock with the intent to get a high % shot...with a reliance on a 3 guard offense, with no real great knockdown shooter, we will need our fair share of easy baskets...without them, we will be up and down...

That said...my fingers are crossed that we can have a metamorphosis

In fairness to ADR, his skills sets are far better than CJ's or Keita's. Although his foot speed rivals Cujo's. Pretty sure Keita was a top 100 kid coming out of High School. Much like another disappointment, Mohamed Diakite. Another top 100 center who never panned out. Although I will say this, I have a cousin through marriage who worked with Mohammed for years downtown and who cannot say enough nice things about him as a person.

Monte, I think Diakite was the result of a severe back injury, just as he was starting to show progress as a soph.

Thanks, now that you mention it I do recall some injuries which likely played a part in him not developing as anticipated.

I just don't see how anyone can now expect a bigger contribution from ADR simply because Thomas is suddenly no longer part of the equation. With or without Thomas, we had a thin front line and a contribution from ADR would have been meaningful. But if anyone thinks that he's about to "step up" simply because Thomas is gone is being unrealistic and unfair to ADR IMO.

I must have been living down south at the time but who was Ed Brown?
BTW Hit, of all the players you mentioned, only Tom Bayne is a good comparison. I one asked Louie what would inspire Tom to get into shape and his hilarious response was "a kick in the ass".

Schools will always take a chance on a big man who is project, as many of the kids mentioned on this thread were. Its that old cliche about not being able to teach size. Some pan out, many don't. My guess is that if you looked at the roster of all D1 over the past 30-40 years, most would have a long list of big men who didn't pan out.

Big Ed was a Mahoney recruit who came with Ty Grant. Brown was lazy & cocky. Ty worked hard & was humble. Guess who succeeded? Harrick later picked up Big Ed at Rhody.

And Big Ed played very well for Rhode Island. A big guy with good hands and nimble feet and had skilz.

Big Ed averaged like 27 and 17 at Copiague, yet did not make Newsday's all-Suffolk team. Pretty sure coaches didn't even vote him to the all-conference team, which shows their opinion of his attitude.

Don't recall Ed being highly recruited nor coming with a tremendous amount of fanfare. At 6'8"'(or smaller), overweight and slow, he had other things working against him in addition to poor attitude.

His father was also a negative, overestimating his ability & being difficult as I recall.

Speaking of big men projects, I know he was a MCAA, but when he arrived here Bill Wennington was far from a finished product. Yet no one worked harder than him to make himself better. I can't tell you how many times I walked in to Alumni hall and Bill was the only one on the court working on his game. Early mornings, late in the day, whenever. He would also often play pick up games with other students. Hard worker and great guy.
