Adonis De La Rosa,

Kob posted that he would be shocked if he doesn't go to sju

Wonder what Plan B is? Ha! No loss if we don't get him IMO.
The potential loss ,is we need a Big to replace Gift and Sanchez. I don't know what targets are out there that are seriously considering us. Maybe Lavin has a JUCO up his sleeve.

Our forward play for next year is three deep.

Obekpa
Sampson
Jones

I would feel good with four, whether it is De La Rosa, a JUCO, or the next Christian Jones, a kid nobody knows about.

If not, at least nobody will be jipped on playing time next year down low.

Replacing their #s and production should not be difficult

I actually think GG has been giving us some very valuable minutes down low. He's not a numbers guy, but he plays good hard nose defense.

Co is foul prone and Jones is an unproven entity IMO.

It's not as bad as most make it seem. I am actually now convinced that we would be better off without Sanchez--this year anyway. I can't believe I'm writing that because I thought his size and skill would be a huge addition. He just has no fire and sees himself as a SF. There is still time for him to "get it" and be the player we need him to be, but as of right now he will not be missed next season. As it is, I'll miss GG fare more.

Next year, we'll have excellent guard depth that will allow us to run 3-4 guard sets for big clips. I'd add Dom to that list of guys that can play the four as well, because he has played better at the four in his career than the three in my opinion and it forces him to be under the basket and away from the perimeter. He's a strong, tough kid, he just plays like he is completely unaware of his weaknesses. If no big is signed, put 15 pounds on Dom and go to work. It wouldn't be the end of the world to play Balamou there in a small, fast lineup either. The kid plays like he's 6'8 instead of his listed height of 6'4. He could use his quickness and hops to mitigate any size disadvantage on the glass and we'd be able to employ a nasty press with him, three guards, and Obekpa on the floor. I'm a big fan of putting your best five out there regardless of size/position.

Jones is unproven and he was simply an awful rebounder as a frosh, but he did impress me with his ability muscle up on defense. That might be GG's best contribution this year. Jones can match it right away IMO. He is a jacked kid and will only come back next season (his third) bigger, stronger, and better...hopefully with the attitude that every rebound and loose ball is his.

Adding a fourth big will eliminate any concerns IMO, but it's not life or death, especially if CO has truly turned the corner. CO and JS will just have to be much smarter with fouls.

I was thinking the same thing. Felix could play the 3 and Dom the 4. You,however are not a Dom fan. I would feel better w 1 more big which I believe Lavin will get.

Felix is probably no more than 6'3" and has yet to show that he's anything more than a good athlete. If we're counting on him and/or Jones for major contributions next year we're really in deep trouble.

"But Friday's game had a high range of emotions, along with plenty of physical play. A rough foul by Christ the King center Adonis Delarosa not only led to the senior’s ejection, but also briefly halted the game midway through the third quarter.

Both teams did an effective job calming down what was a highly charged atmosphere and helped to resume the ballgame that came down to an exciting conclusion.

“There’s no play for that in our league and in our game and in varsity basketball and you don’t want to see someone get hurt,” Bishop Loughlin coach Ed Gonzalez said. “Things happened out there. It's unfortunate. This is a heated rivalry but we know we need to play the game the right way and settle it on the court.”

Minutes before tipoff, players from both sides jawed at one another. Issak Bodon of Bishop Loughlin and Royals forward Travis Atson was each assessed a double technical foul in the second quarter.

With Bishop Loughlin leading 48-44 with 4:31 left in the third quarter, Rutgers bound Mike Williams received a pass and drove hard to the basket from the left baseline when 6-foot-11 Christ the King center Adonis Delarosa stepped in front of the Lions senior guard.

Delarosa barreled into Williams and the force of the collision sent the Lions senior landing hard to the floor and causing a gash to open up in the back of his head.

Two people from the crowd quickly rushed to the floor, with one shoving his arms to the back of the head of Delarosa, and the other attempting to land a punch towards the Royals player. Both were stopped from doing more harm as school officials and coaches quickly stepped in to escort the pair from the building.

Delarosa was promptly ejected from the game with a flagrant foul and may receive a two-game suspension for his actions. Williams (14 points) got up after a few minutes and walked under his own power, but he was taken to the hospital to stich up a gash in the back of his head.

Christ the King coach Joe Aribtello was displeased by his center’s actions, but praised cooler heads from both sides prevailing when the emotions of the moment could have led to something worse happening.

“It was out of control. We were as fault as much as they were at fault,” Arbitello said. “I told my guys and we huddled up there, next guy to say a word and Eddie [Gonzalez] agreed, will sit on the bench for the rest of the game, next guy to talk to somebody, push somebody do anything like that is done. And the play with Adonis was just ridiculous.”

""I knew it was going to be an easy win so I had faith in my guys," said Delarosa, who declined to discuss the suspension and will start taking his official college visits in late February. St. John's, Fordham and South Carolina have recruited him the hardest, he said. "I felt okay watching from the sideline but it still hurts because I wanted to be out there," he went on. "We come back Sunday and play Loughlin, so it should be an interesting game. We're not going to back down."

South Carolina is having an awful season.

So the big boy's got a mean streak!
I like that...needs to know the difference between being tough and being a punk, though. I haven't seen the play, so I don't know which side of the line the foul was on. He's such an enormous kid that any foul he does give probably looks a 100x worse. This is coming from a 235 pounder.

I watched the play several times. He didn't clothesline the kid, as had first been reported. Kid went up for a monster dunk and Delarosa went up strong and tried to block the shot with his right hand while he extended his left forearm across the kids arms. His huge body banged hard into the kid and he went down hard. It is clear that he intended to create contact and deny the dunk but it didn't look like he was trying to cause injury.
