A Shot at Mullin

I agree totally. Add to it, Mussini is not a point guard. He came here expecting to be the shooting guard. Considering that, he has helped his team. Next year I hope he can find his stroke again, as a two guard. By the way, Joe Torre was a pretty good ball player, and a damned good manager. How many WS did the Yanks win with him at the helm?

You don't even have to be a St John's fan to find this article disturbing. Kind of sounds like Chris Mullin stole Jason's prom date or called his dog ugly? Embarrassing that CBS puts their name on this.

I'm pretty surprised the team is this bad.

Main,

Why are you surprised the team is "bad"?

Given the fact that Mullin inherited just 3 seldom used substitutes from last season's StJohn's team, and had to scramble to even fill a roster I can't understand why you or anyone would think this year's team should be anything but 'bad".

I did not read the attached but the nature of the indignant responses by SJU fans is ironic to me since this board has been chock full of criticism of Mullin rationalized time and time again by everything from his salary, to where he sits, to daring to let assistants coach, to his inability to teach guys to shoot fouls IN-SEASON. Either you get it that this season was a push coaching evaluation wise or you don't, you can't have it both ways.

Remember, we were picked to finish last in the BE by the coaches, and by a wide margin. It's not like this team is underachieving.

Unless it is simply different people with disparate views "Coach".

Well at least I struck a nerve with one of the hypocrites, mission accomplished.

Nah "Coach", never posted a retort to article. Pay attention.

Anxiously awaiting initial coaching blog, "Logen's Lair" in near future. :)

"Chock full of criticism of Mullin?" What forum are you reading. I haven't read as much criticism as you think there is.

After all, Lavin is no longer our coach, so the negativity on this board has decreased dramatically. B)

Anything short of a unanimous Mullin for coach of the year is childish and blasphemy

Thanks SJU 14
IMO
they are overachieving with attitude & heart; they are where there should be with losses; could they give a better effort in some games? maybe; is the staff moving the program in a winning direction ? Absolutely!!!

Chris Mullin has been a winner his entire career and plans to be at SJU! Just look at the staff he assembled and the recruits he brought in at the 11th hour!!'

Since NO coach NO where NO how (I quote the Lion in Wizard of Oz) could do any better,
let's stay optimistic AND let's get real naysayers of the world! The present stinks, it's frustration big time, yet the future remains bright! Extremely bright.
We will need sunglasses over the coming years - it will be that bright...and those abandoning the program, giving away their tickets...can watch reality shows...

The rest of us who calmly endured the crsppy times, can relish the wins, bunches of them in the coming years...circa 2016-17-18... When the new era dawns
:)
all the best

I am still positive but next yr will will hold coach and staff accountable for what happens on and off the court

No coach was doing anything with this roster. Any judgement at this time is premature and baseless.

PERIOD.

There are like 5 people total on both boards that either are trolls, Lavin loyalists or just chronically unhappy that are against Mullin. Even though we knew this was coming there hasn't been any real bitching about the worst team in school if not Big East history purely because of Mullin. Any other coach in the world would have gotten slaughtered. Seems like you are chasing windmills here and picking a fight with a pretty silent minority.

Just confirms the importance of talent: without talent Torre's teams lost; with talent...well as many have posted, our coaches are & will be fine as soon as their recruits are in place. By the time Yakwe & Sima and Mussini are juniors with two solid recruiting classes behind them, SJU will " make some noise"
We will be on or close to the Gonzaga-Villanova level.
