2nd Rutgers Game

I think that was my longest post on this site lol and you tell i`m pumped?

One last thing I`d like to add. During this 3 game winning streak in each game we had atleast a 12pnt lead.
ND game we were up 12, DePaul 17, and tonight 12.

That`s a positive sign. After ND and DePaul I didn`t smile, was just being cautious as I didn`t want to get to happy, but I`ll admit after tonight I finally had a smile.

Just got back from the game.

Kudos to the 50 or so students who made the trek to The RAC.

Also kudos to the fair number of NJ alums who came out for the game and cheered the team onto victory.

JSJ, Are you self kudo'ing there? If so, well deserved on your part. Hope you njoyed the game. Nice win.

When Jakarr skied for a rebound late and had a putback all in one fell swoop, I thought to myself "looks like we lost another freshman to the NBA." The kid showed the full arsenal out there today.

As for Dom, is this kid the poor man's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or what?

Ha, thought same thing about Jakaar at same juncture. Dom also reminds me a lot of Postell.

Just could not get on the site last night and had to follow on espn.
A very solid win and very important from a confidence point of view. If we can win the games we are supposed to from now until the end of the season something nice may happen.
One game at a time, we are talented but not that good and very inconsistent. If Sir Dom can average double digits in the next 11 games we will be hard to beat.
Continue to enjoy the ride folks.

Great win. Only minor gripe is that I wish we didn't let them cut the lead down to 3 before pulling away again. Same thing happened against Depaul. When we develop a quasi-comfortable lead late in the game, we tend to get out of our normal rhythm. We either take the air out of the ball or force up bad shots early in the shot clock. The former falls on the coach and the later on the kids. All part of our team being a work in progress.

That was the most pumped I was for a game all year, just didn`t want to get swept by RU. Kudos for kicking their ass.
Only negative was the FT`s missing 9-12 at one point before hitting their last 7 if I remember right.

Now a let down vs SHU? They aren`t good/ established enough to look past anyone, they look like they could be on their way but they aren`t there yet. These kids need to stay hungry and stay on a mission.
Say losing is over with and it`s time to show NY what we`re really about. Win the next 2 and it`s 4 straight, then remember that feeling against Geoegetown when they got smacked. If they get that game it`s 5 staight.

Don`t want to go to far ahead but winning gives confidence. You get used to winning then you want to keep it going. Yeah I know they`re young but that`s an excuse. Oh UK was talented right? Guess what? They were still very young.

MarkRedmen, you asked if they win would I reconsider going and I said yeah. Well I`m going to msg today and going to get tickets to the uconn game. Yeah it sounds that I only go when they win but with the way they were playing, hey I`m not sitting at MSG (which is our home game), watching us stink it up, and listening to the opponents fans chants and cheering and I`d be there all pissed and listening to them.
I refuse to spend $25 $30 for that.
I want to go to Syracuse on a 7 game winning streak. SHU and DePaul is winnable games. Payback is a bitch for G-Town and beat Yukon. 3 of our next 4 is at home.

STAY HUNGRY, STAY FOCUSED, AND BRING BACK ST. JOHN`S

FTs werent the only negative. Greene's play continues to be underwhelming. He's playing himself out of the rotation.

Great win for the team- they never lost the lead in the 2nd half like they did against ND, it got close...but never lost it. Eli Carter had an off night, but we did a great job on him, it was evident that he was frustrated- Our defense is coming together.

I was laughing for the entire sequence when Obekpa got "hurt"- he did a pretty good job of conveying pain and as soon as the free throws were MISSED by Phil- the camera showed him running down the sideline sitting at the head of the bench ready to go back in. Classic. When harrison had the bloody nose vs ND- think Lavin took a good 5 mins to make sure he would go back in. Put Marco in next time- let him see what its like to shoot an uncontested shot- ha.

Agree with all sentiments about Dom- kid is really giving his all out there. I think Lav might switch up the lineup- aside from hitting shots in the beginning of the ND game, Phil just isn't producing. Wouldn't be surprised if Lav gives a Branch/Dlo/Dom/Garrett/Jakarr look next game with subbing Phil/Chris and eventually Felix/Jones. I know Garrett doesnt give us too much offense but he can board and hustle.

He drove the baseline with a defender all over him with about 3:30 left in the game, with the shot clock still sitting at about 20 seconds and took a very ill-fated layup attempt that wasn't even close and I'm just sitting here shaking my head like "what are you doing?"
He did make a baseline jumper before that, but you have to know better than to try that in that situation, especially if you're one of the ball handlers on the team.

Always thought that the Star Ledger had 1 of the best SPORT sections in the tri State area. When I get a chance I always like to take a look. I hit on the game article from last night and after reading I went to the bottom to see if there was any feedback from the fans. Wow, people taking shots at Rice, the players and the football team, both players and coach. If you got a few minutes it was pretty interesting.

I'm pretty sure that's the only shot he's hit in 2 games. and it's not for lack of attempts

With the amount of playing time Garrett has had it looks as if he will join Greene.

Feels funny to bring this up...but the poster Joe3 whom most of this board used to get on...are we 3-0 since he has stopped posting?

Defense! Defense! Defense! Keep playing in your face man to man; has stopped the opposition's three point shooters.
Is there a better, non stop defender then Sir Dom? I'm exhausted watching his all over the court hustle. Right now we can' t afford to lose this kid to foul trouble. Strong starting group in Harrison, Branch, Sampson and Pointer.

Had the priviledge of sitting next to The Earl of Barry !

Any suggestions on how to watch the game's re-run/encore et.

however
I think we are good but just a matter of the inconsistency, youth. I'm very much enjoying this team, this staff, this epoch - if I get too critical I just let my mind drift back to the Jarvis/Roberts days. That shakes me abck to the reality of how fortunate we presently are!

There is clearly friction between Greene and Branch and Greene and Harrison. Branch and Harrison seem to have developed some chemistry, but not so with Greene. I think we'll need all three to be able to coexist in order to get the most out of this season. Obekpa should be limited to about 20 mpg, and the only way to really do that is to run a lot of the three-guard set.

Greene is a detriment.

He's missing wide open shots. He's gotta hit those babies.

Nevertheless, I like how we've fought back.

He's not a good deep shooter.

He shot it well the first few games, but has plummeted. Frankly, I would give some of his minutes to Balamou and Jones. Heck! You may can toss a few of his minutes to Bourgault, as well.

100% agree.

He shot well at the beginning of the season and I recall noticing that he was no longer falling away and had gotten away from that little hand manipulation thing he does when he is shooting...Since then he fell back into the same flawed form...

At least with Balamou we get some good man to man defense, some blocks and occasionally a drive to the basket.

I thought Greene was playing with injuries? If so that explains the dropoff.
I trust the staff's judgment on this.
