2nd Rutgers Game

10-1 odds that we make the tournament is an exaggeration. I was surprised to see this but we are 64th in RPI and 31st in SOS. Really surprised about the latter considering the cupcakes we faced early. Plus a 64 in RPI ain't bad when you factor in a home loss to UNCA.

No no my friend 10-1 is a gross display of hyperbole. Maybe 4-1 but definitely not 10. The committee factors in more than you think. If we perform better in the post-Branch ineligibility era, then they will weigh the 2nd half of the season more. It's all right in front of us these next 3 games to make some headway.

And your also wrong about this being a must win game. Every game is a must-win, especially when you have a chance to avenge a home loss and have 2 extremely winnable games following that up. I'd say this is a must-win.

I think we'd agree that Louisville and Syracuse are locks to make the tournament. When all is said and done, ND and Cincy are probably next in line. This will likely be a thin year for Big East insofar as at large bids, but expect maybe a total of 5 bids going to Big East teams. 64th in RPI won't get you an at large bid. I think when you are talking about odds in something as subjective as a freshmen and sophomore team 1/3 the way through their conference schedule, 10-1 odds isn't hyperbole. Nor is 4-1 odds subject to any more quantitative analysis on your part. I'd love for us both to be wrong, and us getting in with a 4-5 seed, but it's just not in my expectation for this season.

Have fun and root hard tonight. I'd agree it is a very winnable game, but don't expect Rutgers to play as poorly as they did at the Garden. Really no one deserved to win that game.

I will say it's time to retire the cliches and inexperience factors at this point in the season. We have experienced 2nd year players and 2 frosh who have played a lot of minutes.. Winning against the Rutgers,Seton Hall's, DePaul again are reasonable expectations and 2 out of 3 are minimal accomplishments.

Usually a .500 record in BE play results in a NCAA bid but, this is a strange year and might not be good enough..However, that being said I hope Lavin has set some sort of goals in front of these kids to reach the rest of this season.

This team isn't nearly talented and deep enough to compensate for lack of experience as freshmen and sophomores without upper class pieces.

.500 Big East record can get you a bid, but usually if you go undefeated or have only 1-2 losses in the preseason. We had way too many for that to happen to us this season.

Well, the loss at MSG to RU was not good viewing but if we play like we did against ND and DePaul but for 40 mins, we should do fine. I think we will win.

You don't ever get swept in conference play. Period. The boys better bring this one home.

There were 14 sweeps last year in the BE; this in a year when several teams only played each other once. Not exactly "don't ever".

2 observations. Phil Greene should take a seat... For good.

Rutgers is handing the ball off and turning into defenders for screens. That is completely illegal. Burr couldn't see a good call if it landed right on his fat face. Overall a decent first half effort

Greene is a detriment.

He's missing wide open shots. He's gotta hit those babies.

Nevertheless, I like how we've fought back.

He's not a good deep shooter.

He shot it well the first few games, but has plummeted. Frankly, I would give some of his minutes to Balamou and Jones. Heck! You may can toss a few of his minutes to Bourgault, as well.
