2nd DePaul Game

Bslamou plays decent defense, plays hard and is a good athlete. However he is way too small to be a four or five in a lineup with three guards and Pointer and he cannot shoot from the outside. The team needs to pass the ball as well as possible to get some hoops close to the basket.

These 9 PM games are awful. I get it's for TV, but they're still a pain. Right in the middle of the week. Work ends at 6:00, so I basically have to hang around for a few hours because it's not enough time to go home. Game will end around 11:15. Get home well past midnight. Wake up at 6:30 the next morning.

Extremely inconvenient time all around. Just makes me exhausted for work the following day, but as a fan I want to go to every game I can. This game I may skip out on depending on how work is going this week. A game this time vs. a ranked team? Sure. A game this time vs. DePaul? Pushing it.

EDIT: Wait, is this at CA? Well I could go home at least after work first and not get back so late.

First half at CA, second at MSG. :)

Hahaha to both comments.

Well I'm set as long as it's at CA. But my rant still stands for the 9 PM Garden games. I just checked and fortunately there's no more 9 PM games this year.

Great story! I was at the edge of my seat! The edit was a real spoiler as I was hoping to post a funny picture of you waiting to leave for the game in Manhattan dressed in redmen red.

Plus, the first 1500 fans get a throw back winter cap! :cheer:

Starting felix is a mistake. This is not creighton, this is an athletic team with guys who go 6'6, 6'8, 6'10, and 6'11 all in the rotation.
This is not the game to go small. We'll get killed on the boards even more so than we did in the first game.

Amar and Jones should get minutes spelling obekpa and pointer.

While they have some size, their bigs are not the concern. Tommy Hamilton tneds to disappear and has done little this year. He seems to have regressed from where he was last year. Forrest Robinson is 6'10" but he lives at the 3pt line. In fact, the last time we played them, we played man and Obekpa ended up trying to guard him on the perimeter all night. I thought that a zone would have been more effective in order to keep CO at the basket.

Their wings and guards present more of a problem than their bigs.

We are not good enough to get out rebounded by 13 and still win the game. So while I agree that Henry and Garrett carry the team, we can't ignore their bigs. givimg up extra possesions will put us in hole.

My point is that it is not their 6'10" guys who are doing damage inside, whether on offense or crashing the boards. Stimage and Henry are probably tougher inside.

Pressure them just like we did against creighton. Chatman and Brooks are as quick as any backcourt in the BE. Look what we did to them. That is the way we were playing in the pre season and that's the way the team needs to play now. If we get tired we get tired, but to not to play full court d with this team is suicide. Can't get a birdie if you come up 2 feet short.

i agree with this - when we played them in their building, we were very successful pressuring them - they got out of rhythm and looked very very spotty getting the ball up the court.

Additionally, I would start Amar - not only because he had a better game than Felix on Saturday, but he has actually been okay in my opinion this year in the limited role he has played - and we also have to bring more size into this game. I am not a fan of the small line up like we started the Creighton game with. We may have gotten away with it at home against the worst team in the league whose bigs arent really big time threats in the paint, but long term that will not work - and as a lot of teams have found out the hard way this season already, us included, DePaul is very dangerous and very capable of winning, so i wouldnt tinker with the lineup here.

But today would be wasted if he didn't disagree with something Lavin did or is going to do

Shouldn't you be in class and not your I phone at this hour? ;)

i appreciate your commentary. I really do. Your "rah rah" posts are really cute and inspiring. You like to be all warm and fuzzy and have a nice outlook for the team. Its all good bro. But having watched this disaster that Lavin has quarterbacked, in particular the last two seasons, Lavin doesnt get the right to get a pass. Why should i agree with him? Should i base it on his lights out 1-4 Big East Tournament record? or maybe the fact that the # 3 incoming class in 2011 is staring at a career on ZERO NCAA Tournament games. Or maybe...and this is a good one....since our starting center is hurt we will now start (drum roll please)....Felix Balamou!

So please spare me your cheap shots because i would love to admit i was wrong about Lavin and put my foot in my mouth but this has been an utter disaster and Lavin should be held accountable for the state of the program.

@NYPost_Brazille: Steve Lavin said Felix Balamou will continue to start, has been impressed by junior's all-around game. #sjubb
