Realistic roster:
- Transfer PG

In that first option, we'd need a legit back up PG unless you think Lefty is the guy to carry the load if Devion was out for extended time. But as you noted...Smith likely not here

Why isn’t the first one realistic? Some coaches on a CBS poll thought we had the most NIL, and we know it’s already going to be more. The Smith thing, who knows if he’s going to be eligible. But I wouldn’t count out our resources.

Re Prey: Gonzalo noted yesterday this from article back in June. Hopefully the one year “loan” is flexible. Translation>

“Updated 06/21/2024 21:06: “The young center Rubén Prey left Joventut Badalona and confirmed his signing for the University of Saint John's in the NCAA, with Rick Pitino as coach, as confirmed this Friday by the American entity. The player leaves with the permission of Joventut, who retains his rights and gives him a loan for one year.”

I believe the loan could be extended. We shall see what happens.

That is an administrative thing to retain rights to players but European teams are very concerned about this situation because NIL money can be outright more lucrative than European salaries.
As many have alluded to here, the back door maneuvering/negotiating going on is a pervasive constant. D1 BB obviously is just a pro league with no restrictions or rules in place.
Frankly, in this situation, IMO, Prey is holding better cards than Joventut Badalona; I guarantee you there are major D1 programs well aware of Prey. Guys his size, mobility and BB knowledge don’t grow on trees.

They’re already Pros lol

Not sure if RJ is hitting the first round this year…

As of now- I think everyone on the roster stands to potentially make more in College next year… sadly… potentially- at another school
If RJ doesn’t go to NBA draft, he will be one of, if not the most sought after college players around. He will make at least 7 figures.

I try to temper my “realism”… cause I know once the roster is set - I somehow always see 25+wins and a sweet 16 lol

RJ's doesn't look to pass when SJU is down. He tries to carry the burden and gets in tunnel-vision mode. The problem that he has is that he tries to go one-on-one when the middle is clogged. He's prevented from maneuvering and doing his thing.

I'm curious about your "ideal roster next season". If Zuby and Prey stay another year and if Maker develops into a positive contributor, why would we need Vince? Your realistic roster seems to be more realistic except for the absence of Brady.
