2025 / 2026 Roster

Rick just being conservative in saying we lose Deivon? I thought one of the hundreds of new rules makes him eligible another year. And I assume if that were the case we make it worth his while.

Honestly with Zags you have to think it’s intentional for clicks at this point. He’s such a clown.

Also this happened yesterday

He said we are losing Dev, Kadary and Aaron (not mention of RJ).

He basically said we aren't recruiting HS because of Prey, Lefty and Maker and we need to replace those 3 guys above, and you aren't doing that with HS kids.

Able to watch press conference. Zags’ sloppiness is insane in that tweet, but coming from him, predictable.

Rick mentioned *Ruben* first and foremost, along with Lefty and Khaman. Glover omission could be seen as just something in the moment, perhaps. But mentioning Ruben should give us some level of confidence that his one year loan is not something set in stone.

The approach of not recruiting high schoolers this year only makes sense if this is their strategy: retain, retain, retain.

If Smith is eligible for one more year in college — the court ruling seemed clear as day to me — we are definitely his best opportunity to make money, play at the highest level, and be in a comfortable environment. I’m holding out hope we’re surprised next spring.

Jackson is a 1st round pick. He should be NBA bound. Yaxel is also on a bunch of draft boards and word is he’s either going to the NBA or to Kansas.

Mgbako is very talented but Pitino might go insane with him on the defensive end.

Jamir Watkins is someone I’m keeping an eye on. There was alleged mutual interest last year and his coach is retiring after this season. 6’7 athletic wing with one more year of eligibility left.

Would be nice if Donovan Dent was still playing for a Pitino next year but I’d highly doubt it
Not convinced Jackson or Boogie are locks to be first rounders. Draft is deep, and they’ve had up & down campaigns. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in the late teens but also wouldn’t be surprised if they return to college after harsh feedback.

I honestly have come around to the point that Mgbako may not be a good fit here. The upside is tremendous, but he shows no interest in defense or rebounding. I don’t know if staff would want to take a chance on that — especially since he’s a streaky three point shooter to boot (in a 4-23 3pt four game slump now, had a 0-15 four game slump before). …that said, maybe a perfect change of scenery candidate also.

Watkins would’ve been amazing this year. Our bench all of sudden becomes elite. He’d be a sufficient replacement.

I’m also looking at Nijel Pack if Smith leaves. Also haven’t seen much of Bethea at all but I know we went to an open gym when he was a high schooler.

Abdi Bashir on Monmouth is intriguing as well. Two years of eligibility, long arms and an athlete, and I think can thrive where he’s not literally the only offensive threat.

Not sure anyone was speculating about Aaron Scott, RJ Luis, Zuby Ejifor or Deivon Smith, at this stage in the portal. I trust the staff and hope we are only filling a few spots

FYI, Abdi’s brother Abdul Bashir, of Casper JC, just committed to Auburn

He won't if Zuby and Prey are back. And that's great for us. Hopefully he can be someone that can play from the under 12 to the under 8 each half and more if he's cruising or we have foul trouble.
From what I saw, I don’t see him starting regardless. He’ll get Lefty minutes.
