2024-25 Rankings

This really stinks . It’s not enough we have to pay for Cable TV but , now we have to add Subscription fees to get to see games we previously saw on regular Cable for nothing .

I blame Val and the BE .

Thank you , Dk for the info on the TV coverage . I saw somewhere a while ago , getting a trial peacock subscription for a nominal sum . Wonder if still available .

Who still pays for Cable TV? Switch to Hulu or Youtube TV. Save $100 per month and put it towards your subscriptions.

The overly simplistic answer is that our offensive metrics really weigh us down in predictive computer models (Kenpom, Torvik, Miya).

If you look at KenPom, our defense is #2 but offense is #83. No school ahead of us is lower than #39 on offense or defense. You have to get to #23 Kentucky to find another school sub-80 on anything (#90 on defense). BPI has us #3 defensively, Torvik has us #3 defense and #103 offense, etc.

That said, the BPI resume metrics are looking great for us right now. We're #6 in strength of record. Torvik's WAB (wins above bubble) has us #10.

AP writers and coaches aren't beholden to models, which will lead to some randomness.
Thanks, I guess I need to understand these models better since they will go a long way in determining our seeding. If you have any articles or references that help to explain, I'd appreciate if you would share.

Hitting refresh to find that we're ranked in the top 10 was so long ago I played pickup with the over 30 crowd at night in the local high school gym and didn't always hobble the next day.

These week-to-week rankings are fine, but one possession at a time, one half at a time, one game at a time, just beat Villanova and onto the next game.

YouTube don't have msg or yes, hulu I have no idea about.

I gotta watch my local teams, especially if you're a die hard.

Die hard, uh-huh. :devilish:

Exhibit A

Yeah, as seen in Mug's above Tweet that one writer kept us at #20 (same as last week), an obvious error that probably would've been the difference in us being #8 instead of #9 this week. Makes zero sense to beat #11 and #19 but stay at #20.

The good news is despite being #9 we're actually closer to #6 than #10 in terms of points.

We're:
177 points behind #6 Houston
84 points behind #7 Purdue
7 points behind #8 Texas A&M
(1058 points for #9 St. John's)
178 points ahead of #10 Iowa St

What this means is if we go 2-0 this week (including another ranked W)... next Monday's update will be REALLY interesting.

Yep, after the games that they lost in the Bahamas, winning the rest of the ooc games they were supposed to win, so those games really didn't help at all, if you want yeah you could say n mexico, but who else
K at. Is looking like a damn good win now but at the time no one cared about k St.

Say what you want but I have no regrets typing that.
